Sometimes, the best way to find peace is to get lost in something bigger than yourself.

Let the ocean quiet your mind, put things into perspective, and remind you what it feels like to truly be alive.

For almost three years, I’ve been on the other side of the competition as part of the safety team, watching athletes prepare, push their limits, and experience the highs and lows of competing.

This time, I simply wanted to know what it feels like to be an athlete myself. No big expectations just the desire to experience it, challenge myself, and see what I could do. 😊

And now I understand why athletes keep coming back. There’s something special about pushing yourself beyond what you think you can do. It can be exhausting and definitely expensive 😁, but once you reach your goal and get that white card, somehow, all the training, sacrifices, and expenses become worth it.

I’m truly grateful for this experience and for everything I learned along the way.

Thank you @depthquestph for organizing this event, and to @aljrvitor and @elavvitor_ for making it happen.

Thank you to all the organizers, judges, medics, media, safety team, marshals, and boatmen for your hard work and support throughout the competition.

To everyone I trained with and those who became my safety and buddies, thank you for sharing this journey with me.

And lastly, thank You, Lord, for the experience, wisdom, strength, and the opportunity to be part of this journey. 🙏🏻

From safety team to athlete, what an experience. 🤍

Yesterday, I achieved a new Philippine National Record in Dynamic No Fins with a dive of 185 meters in a single breath. The sensations were perfect. The cold weather really helped with the MDR making my dive more mangeable.

This moment is the result of over 2 years of consistent training, early mornings, hard sessions, setbacks, and a lot of patience. Improving from my previous 175 meters to 185 may sound like numbers, but every single meter demanded physical and mental discipline. I'm deeply grateful to my friends, training partners, family, and the freediving community. This record belongs to all of us. And honestly, it just reminds me to keep pushing, to see how far one breath can really take me.

I'm very thankful to Allan Syjuco Vitor Jr. and Ela Vitor for organizing competitions that give freedivers a space to showcase the hard work put into training. Your efforts help grow the community and push us all to aim higher.

I want to give special thanks to Maria Maria and Patricia Paige Ong for your advices to improve my performance, and to my family and friends for the constant belief, even when I doubted myself. And to the freediving community, which continues to inspire me, thank you. Without all of you, this journey wouldn't mean half as much.

I also want to thank Daryle Aquino for coaching me in my performance. We both know this dive meant a lot, and your guidance helped me stay centered and execute when it mattered most.

For now, just a safe dive to 185 and let's see in the future if I will be able to turn on the 200m wall. Now that the pool competition is finished, I will now be focusing on depth training and will be getting ready for the major depth competition on november. Let's hope that I will be able to achieve another milestone in my freediving career.

One of those underwater moments that makes you stop and simply watch. Surrounded by a swirling school of fish, I couldn’t help but pause and appreciate the beauty unfolding beneath the surface.

Every dive offers something unique, and this was one of those unforgettable encounters I’ll always be grateful for.

Exploring the incredible caverns of Takot Reef, Sorsogon. Every dive is a reminder that some of the most beautiful places exist where few choose to go.

Grateful to see my name appearing near the top of the AIDA International official safeties list worldwide, and honored to currently be the only Filipino listed as AIDA Safety B in both Pool and Depth.

When I first started freediving, my goal was never really to become an instructor. What inspired me most was the role of a safety diver. I was drawn to the responsibility, discipline, and trust that come with helping keep athletes safe in the water.

When the opportunity came to take the AIDA Professional Competition Safety Course in 2023, I immediately took it. Coincidentally, it was also my first competition as a safety under Lawom and ManuMano.

Being a safety diver requires more than skills and knowledge, it requires integrity, sound judgment, and a commitment to leading by example. Throughout my freediving journey, from my first dives to becoming an instructor and eventually diving beyond 60 meters, I have always tried to approach the sport conservatively and responsibly.

Fortunately, throughout my journey, I’ve been able to avoid major diving injuries such as blackouts, squeezes, or bleeding. Not because I’m immune to them, but because I’ve always tried to approach diving with a safety-first mindset. I hope that mindset continues to inspire my students and fellow divers.

As I slowly step into my athlete era, I know the challenges and discipline required will be different. But no matter where this path leads, I hope to carry the same safety-first mindset that has guided me from the beginning.

Still learning through every event, every dive, and every opportunity in the water.

A heartfelt thank you to all the organizers, judges, medics, fellow safeties, marshals, competition staff, athletes, and friends I’ve had the privilege of working with along the way. Every event has been a team effort, and each of you has been part of this journey in one way or another.

Thank you to everyone who has trusted, guided, mentored, and supported me throughout the years

No signal. No notifications. No distractions.

At Apo Reef, your phone stops connecting — but you start reconnecting with nature.
