Leading up to the Western States lottery is a great time to throw back some ultra running memories! I'll be running a 100 mile this year. Which one will be decided on Dec 5th! My first ultra was in 2012 at Walk in the Park 54km I think I signed up the day before the race! And I was not ready or prepared for what I signed up for! I had high hopes of finishing the race! With no clue on training, fueling or what to eat. I found myself cramping up in the last 10km then I decided to find my own way back to the finish line. That's a problem with knowing the park. Then I popped out on course in front of Phil. I was still running but not an official finish but I ran 48km. My first ultra and my first DNF. Why would I try an ultra again? Why is always the question? The unknown of how far you can run and how much you can push yourself before it all falls apart! Finding motivation to keep pushing! #ultrarunning #lifegoals❤️ #westernstates100 #bootlegger100 by @trail_squirrel
