On the 20th of September, The Annual Tram Sarong was hosted by MASCA Victoria. This was the second time the event has been hosted and it was a truly a momentous occasion to witness. The streets and trams was filled with Malaysians adorned in traditional clothing. Everyone was dressed to impress, photo-ready at any moment. The nostalgic scent of traditional food intoxicated the air. The aroma of Satay and Mee goreng left everyone drooling like a waterfall! This event was truly a joyous occasion for everyone. We extend our greatest thanks to MASCAvoice’s editorial writer @syirahashari and MHRC’s Vice President @yinnnzl for their wonderful write-up about Tram Sarong. by @tramsarongmelb
Living in Melbourne for many years has demonstrated to me what it truly means to navigate two homes, blending the incredible influences of Australia with the deep roots that define me. For many Malaysians in Melbourne, while we love the life we have built here, our souls remain anchored to our Malaysian heritage, its culture, traditions and these was beautifully captured by the spirit of @tramsarongmelb. Australia has broadened our horizons and added new chapters to our story, but it was the rich culture, resilience, and values we grew up with in Malaysia that shaped the foundation of who we are today. I am proud to be a reflection of both worlds—deeply grounded in my heritage and continually improved by my Australian home. Thank you CG @nikyon for championing people and ideas. Your unique ability to see the potential in others has given life to so many innovative concepts with profound impact. By consistently weaving networks and bringing diverse groups together, you have built spaces where collaboration thrives. Congratulations to all involved in Tram Sarong, thank you for helping us create these special memories. #garyleecious #tramsarong #malaysiansinmelbourne #motivitamin by @tramsarongmelb

Roger and I had the joy of celebrating Malaysia Day at Tram Sarong. 🇲🇾🚋 It was a wonderful gathering of Malaysians in Melbourne, with friends from across the wider community joining in. Dressed in sarongs and traditional attire, we travelled by tram through the city before gathering at the Immigration Museum for Malaysian food, music and performances. It was lovely to hear from Her Excellency Datin Paduka Sharrina Abdullah, Malaysia’s High Commissioner to Australia; Tuan Nik Muhammad Nasyron Syah Nik Daud, Malaysia’s Consul-General in Melbourne; Cr Gladys Liu; and Nick Marchand, Director, Global Engagement at Museums Victoria. Born in Malaysia and now calling Melbourne home, I felt proud to see our cultures celebrated and shared so warmly. It reminded me how much connection grows when we take the time to understand one another’s cultures. That idea is also at the heart of my book, Leading Beyond the Bamboo Ceiling. Congratulations to Dhanieya, the lead coordinator, Consulate General of Malaysia committee, the City of Melbourne, the Immigration Museum, MASCA Victoria and the My Melbourne Student Ambassadors 🧡 - a most wonderful day celebrating culture, connections & community. So many beautiful photos and videos to remember the joy and spirit of the day. 🇲🇾 Thank you @wch_jovian @cindy.shutterbug Proudly wearing sarong pants by Malaysian designer @kokloong_ho by @tramsarongmelb

🇲🇾🚋 Malaysia Day, Melbourne style! We celebrated Malaysia Day at the Tram Sarong Festival, a free family friendly cultural celebration held at the Immigration Museum on Flinders St. Dressed in traditional sarong attire and soaking up every bit of the festivities, from the vibrant lion dance to graceful Bharatanatyam performances and intricate henna drawings. The whole atrium was buzzing with music, colour and the unmistakable smell of Malaysian street food. A beautiful reminder of home, right in the heart of the city. 🧡 . . . #malaysiaday #melbourne #streetphotography #fujifilm #malaysianfood by @tramsarongmelb
