Cove of the Fox - A hotel I wish was top secret, now live on Pilot Substack. by @travelbypilot

emails have been switched over - and alarms turned off. @osbornhouse_ by @travelbypilot

“Osborn House is two hours from Sydney and approximately one thousand miles from the version of yourself that checks emails before coffee. You’ll walk the grounds, sleep deeply, eat very well, and leave calmer than you arrived.” - latest Substack live from our recent stay at @osbornhouse_ by @travelbypilot

“Sicilian olives arrived without being asked for. They were exactly the right olives. And salty crisps, you know the ones” PILOT is officially on Substack. First post on @puntatragarahotel is live. by @travelbypilot

You know when a pool feels less like a pool and more like a portal? That’s what Belmond Caruso has managed to pull off. La Piscina doesn’t just sit above the Amalfi Coast, it hovers, dissolving into sky and sea, with views that once belonged only to an 11th-century palace.

And the best part? Belmond’s service. It’s the kind where you don’t even realise you needed something until it’s quietly placed in your hand - a towel, a drink, maybe even a moment of calm. Effortless, but somehow unforgettable. @belmond @belmondhotelcaruso by @travelbypilot

In Italy, summer feels eternal, sunshine, spritz, and the kind of calm you never want to leave. But the real magic often isn’t found in the famous squares or crowded beaches. It’s in the trattoria tucked down a quiet alley, the hidden cove only locals swim in, the piazza where neighbours gather long after the tourists have gone.

Why the Ritz Paris remains the epitome of French art de vivre.

With 142 rooms and suites, each space tells a different story of Parisian elegance. Some overlook the Eiffel Tower, others Place Vendôme or the hotel’s private Grand Jardin. The Prestige Suites, in particular, carry the imprint of the city’s most iconic history.

• Suite Chopin – its painted ceiling is a listed historic monument.
• Suite Impériale – protected as French heritage, it mirrors the grandeur of Versailles.
• Coco Chanel Suite – home to the fashion icon for 34 years, decorated in her timeless black, white, and beige, reflecting her personal taste.

The Ritz is more than a hotel; it is Paris itself distilled into walls of history, artistry, and timeless glamour.

A timeless Venetian icon - Two years ago, we had the privilege of staying at The St. Regis Venice – where divine dining, cocktails on the balcony, and impeccable service made every moment unforgettable.

Located on the Grand Canal, the hotel is formed from five 17th-century palazzi, offering front-row views of gondolas and the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute.

From breakfasts on the terrace to signature cocktails at the Arts Bar, St. Regis marries Venetian history with modern luxury, making it one of the city’s most remarkable stays.

Last year, we had the absolute pleasure of staying at the iconic @amangalla 🌴 it’s a memory we still speak about often. A timeless sanctuary in the heart of Galle Fort, Amangalla captures the spirit of Sri Lanka in the most refined and enchanting way. From the serene colonial architecture to the unparalleled service and the feeling of stepping back into a beautifully preserved piece of history, every detail is extraordinary.

It’s no surprise that whenever the conversation turns to travel, Amangalla and Sri Lanka itself are right at the top of everyone’s bucket list. A true 5-star experience in every sense: heritage, hospitality, and heart. We can’t wait to return.
