Raw and Photoshop 📸

Had a lucky spell of sunshine and totally recommend Third Beach Trail if you're in Olympic! Landscape shots of the waves crashing into the rocks offshore don't do it justice, but coming soon.

Swipe right for starless. Located in a neighboring arm of our Milky Way, the Sadr region is a 100 lightyear collection of emission nebula, dust, open clusters, and more.

Since this region is so big, I figured it'd be a good side project while my main rig was imaging smaller nebula. All I used was my full-spectrum Canon R6 so I can collect as much of the red Hydrogen Alpha light, the Rokinon 135mm f/2 lens, an Optolong L-Pro filter to prevent star bloat from the infrared spectrum, and my SkyGuider Pro tracker. Turns out I could still collect sharp data without guiding at 90 second exposures. Really love how much of the night sky you can view with just a camera lens!

Had a blast processing wide field shots of the Sadr region in the Milky Way, rich with Hydrogen Alpha nebulas and stars. Here's a quick glance at the editing process.

1. Single RAW subexposure
2. Stack all subexposures and callibration frames to improve the signal to noise ratio. This was 229 x 90s subexposures or 5.5 hours of data
3. Background extermination to remove light pollution gradients or leftover vignetting
4. Remove stars to edit nebula and stars separately
5. Stretch data, curve adjustments to improve contrast and saturation
6. Add back stars and enjoy!

Equipment: Canon R6, Rokinon 135mm f/2, iOptron SkyGuider

Processing: Pixinsight

Capturing the motion of the the Earth along the Milky Way core. Aiming just southwest with a wide angle lens, you can see the curvature where the stars in the northern (right) and southern (left) hemispheres move away from each other as our night turns to day.

All you need is a tripod and camera to capture star trails! This is only the third try I've attempted, but figured since my nebula setups were already going, might as well watch the core of the Milky Way set in this stack.

Took about 6 hours of 60 second exposures with my Canon.

Belated Fourth of July flyby shots from the Carillon, formation shots taken between 70-200mm and 600mm for detailed range!

Poor Mesa putting up with these flyby's constantly today and tomorrow, but at least we got a chance to catch the Thunderbirds!

Might have given up eternal life for a celestially cold brew, but there's some catharsis finally checking off the Washington DC LDS temple for a quick infrared photography session! Had to tune out that children's primary hymn it triggers (IYKYK) with some Alyssa Grenfell & John Dehlin. No sightings of Dorothy or the Wizard either.

Just near Maxwell's, Buddha Tooth Relic Temple has some of the best night views from above with the Central Business District as a backdrop. Caught just after the Lunar New Year festivals.

Mapping sci-fi to Singapore's skylines. Bonus wide-angle views of the Civilian War Memorial, Raffles Hotel, and the Flower Dome to the southwest.

Traded my running shoes for my 600mm telephoto. Same route, completely different perspective. 🦅📸

Four Mile Run is a hidden gem tucked between Arlington and Alexandria and one of the best urban birding spots in the entire DMV. Osprey, Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herons, and more use this waterway as a hunting ground year-round. The ospreys were absolutely putting on a show, hovering, banking, locking eyes mid-dive.

You don’t have to drive hours into the wilderness for nature like this. Sometimes it’s right on your training route. 🏃‍♂️➡️📷
