Young women, you don't need to give men grace early in the courting/dating phase. Give it to yourself. A la give yourself permission to leave early or don't go at all. You don't need to endure a bad date tryna be polite. Listen to your gut. Your belly/spirit often knows before you do when you've made a mistake. Don't waste a lot of time before you correct it. #BlackWomen #dating #grace #mindsetshift #Treatmebetta by @treatmebetta

Somehow I just can't get over the idea that an adult would deliberately hurt you and then expect to remain in your presence where they could arguably hurt you again. Not to say you shouldn't forgive, but access? Well, that's something else isn't it? #BlackWomen #forgiveness #advice #mindsetshift #darkcomedy #treatmebetta by @treatmebetta

It's more difficult to learn who you are - and to like yourself and all of your flaws - when you can't sit alone without static. And when you can't be alone without feeling uncomfortable that will inevitably cause problems when you are with other people. Being alone helps you understand who you are, and you need to be grounded in her before you can withstand the pressures and influences that will come at you from the external world. #BlackWomen #bealone #advice #mindsetshift #treatmebetta by @treatmebetta

Whenever life gets tough, I simplify. I reassess. How am I thinking? What do I want? Whose comfort and security and concerns am I placing above my own? We tend to complicate things too much because we listen to other people too much. Think for yourself. You'll be better off. #BlackWomen #criticalthinking #advice #mindsetshift #treatmebetta by @treatmebetta

Young Black women - old ones too - have way too much information at your fingertips to stay in bad relationships for long. Don't do it, dolls. You don't have to suffer for a long time before you're allowed to call it quits. The game has changed. You can release that person to the marketplace and move on to the next much better option guilt free. #BlackWomen #dating #toxic #relationships #treatmebetta by @treatmebetta

Black women are often not protected. Worse, we live in a world that often takes kindness for weakness. As such, it's safer to withhold the instinct to be nice to strangers and even to those close to us in some cases because the wrong person will pervert something good, and you will end up with an outcome that you didn't expect, intend, or want. And that outcome could actually put you in peril. #BlackWomen #mindsetshift #dontbenice #treatmebetta by @treatmebetta

Bitter Betty won't do what she needs to do to heal, be healthy, live well and feel and look good. Selfish Susie does everything in her power to ensure that she lives a soft life, and everyone around her who is of sound mind to appreciate that effort will probably live well too. #BlackWomen #mindsetshift #angryBlackwoman #bitter #treatmebetta by @treatmebetta

Now, there are situations and places where smiling is necessary. Work, for instance. So, it pays to learn how to be cordial even when you don't feel your best. But most of the time random men don't deserve that effort. So don't offer it. Save your energy for yourself. You need it more. #BlackWomen #angryBlackWoman #peoplepleaser #treatmebetta by @treatmebetta

I was invited to an in store event to preview select pieces from Ferragamo's recent SS 27 Milan runway show. I almost went, but ultimately I knew I was setting myself up for a fall. Here's how I resisted temptation. #IntentionalSpending #Ferragamo #LuxuryShopping #BlackWomen #treatmebetta by @treatmebetta

Sometimes people just won't like you. You don't have to have done anything, they just don't. And that's ok. That's their business. Let them figure it out. Your mandate is to live well, not to waste your precious time engaging in foolishness. Remove yourself from animosity and negativity. Focus on the people who treat you well, and reciprocate that energy. #BlackWomen #PersonalGrowth #MindsetShift #Treatmebetta by @treatmebetta

If you're listening to others more than you listen to yourself, you aren't playing your own game. And that lack of focus, attention and self-trust could cost you. #BlackWomen #PlayToWin #MindsetShift #Treatmebetta by @treatmebetta
