Cosmic Dissolution and Creation

“This universe is in fact the eternal effulgent infinite consciousness which generates within itself the knowable (which would be known as that which is to be) with an idea concerning its form (which is space), and with an enquiry concerning itself. “

During a cosmic dissolution the entire objective creation is resolved into the infinite being. All that appears to be, disappears. The infinite alone remains. Then, this same infinite conceives by itself, within itself, the “duality of oneself and the other”, causing the mind to arise, as a wave arises when the surface of the calm ocean is disturbed.

The Creator is the mind. The mind is non- different from (has no existence independent of) the infinite self, just as the waves in an ocean are the ocean itself. Thus when the infinite vibrates, space is brought into being, and the worlds appear to emerge.

A painting about endless suffering🔄

The woman, whose thoughts grow out of her head (only to merge with her and feed her again), is trapped in endless cycles of time, floating through the cosmos, suffering.

Woman Disguised as Medusa : reshoot

This painting depicts a woman disguised as Medusa (one of the three Gorgons and the daughter of the sea gods Phorcys and Ceto). The woman, a survivor of rape, anxiously tries to keep herself from harm’s way with the help of her friend, the octopus with snake-headed tentacles.

When I saw on X that Rajiv Malhotra - the founder of Infinity Foundation - was looking for a passionate artist to bring his new book's theme to life, and was accepting entries from artists worldwide, I felt like it was a sign for me to step out of my comfort zone and try something I wouldn't have before.

At the back of my head, a voice kept saying to me "What's the point of sending your entry? You won't be selected anyway. There is talent out there that is unmatched". But I did it anyway, and to my surprise I was selected.

Crazy to see that my snakes have made it onto a book cover now 🐍 :)

This project has been a major learning experience for me, and has opened up the doors to some exciting opportunities. Stay tuned.

The ocean waves do not have an existence of their own, separate from water. Similarly, all the objects of this world which derive their existence and consciousness from Brahman, are ultimately Brahman alone in reality.

This is what I have been up to lately. This is just one piece from a larger series.

I've incorporated philosophy into my academic work. I've been trying to study and visually represent the metaphysics and philosophical concepts of Advaita Vedanta—a Hindu tradition expounded by great thinkers like Gaudapada, Mandana Mishra, and Shankaracharya.

A few lines to provide context for the artwork:
Every creation in this world has two causes: Upadana Karana (material cause) and Nimitta Karana (efficient cause).

Take a clay pot, for example. The clay is the material cause, while the potter who shapes it is the efficient cause. According to Advaita Vedanta, Brahman (Sat-Cit-Ananda/pure existence, pure consciousness, pure bliss), the fundamental reality underlying all objects and experiences, is both the material and efficient cause of the entire universe (jagat).
