Mike Truesdell first came to TROMP as a competitor in 2010, an experience that changed his life. The American percussionist and educator has since performed around the world and now teaches at Ithaca College. This year, Mike returns to Eindhoven as a member of the TROMP jury. In his video, he shares his advice for the competitors: connect with one another, cheer each other on and learn from each other’s repertoire and playing styles. Mike will also join Philzuid as one of the five solo percussionists in Toru Takemitsu’s *From me flows what you call time*. We look forward to welcoming him back to TROMP Percussion! 24 September Philzuid & TROMP Percussion Tickets via the link in bio. #tromppercussion #tipc #percussioncompetition #eindhoven by @truedrum

I am incredibly grateful to have played with @jazzdotorg Orchestra this week celebrating Miles Davis at 100. @rgrboccato and I were recruited for Solea from Sketches of Spain, but the program featured expertly-performed works from Miles Ahead and Porgy and Bess as well. I was warmly welcomed by everyone, including the singular @obedcalvaire. What an amazing band and organization! by @truedrum

The one and only! MikeDrop is joined by @colincurrieperc! Tune in as we talk to Colin about his newest album release: Steve Reich Sextets (available April 11, 2026). A true pleasure to talk with Colin about Steve Reich, chamber music, pedagogy, concerto piano reductions, concertizing, and, briefly, puzzle tables! The album is great, with a unique and crystalline sound. Definitely worth a listen (although I can't say the same for our podcast). 1976-Two visions of New York Taxi Driver captured the city’s isolation and tension. That same year, Steve Reich premiered Music for 18 Musicians - a work built on breath, rhythm, and shared pulse that would reshape modern music. 50 years later, that pulse continues and our need to meditate together grows.
