There is a profound stillness that comes with visiting a place untouched by the modern world. Deep within the private concessions bordering Chobe, you find yourself sharing the landscape with the highest concentration of elephants on the continent—watching entire herds swim across the Chobe River using their trunks like natural snorkels. It spans across four distinct, wild ecosystems where time slows down entirely. It’s raw, it’s rare, and it completely redefines luxury.

For Chobe stays, revisited visit the link in my bio.

Wandering through the ancient stone labyrinth of Matera, Italy, feels like stepping back thousands of years into living history.

Carved directly into the limestone ravines of Southern Italy, the Sassi di Matera are among the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in the world. Walking these quiet stone alleys is an incredible masterclass in ancient human architecture—with homes, churches, and cave networks built entirely into the rock face.

After a long day of exploring, watching the sun dip behind the ravine from a restored cave suite at @santangelo_matera is the ultimate way to wind down. Visit the link in my bio for more amazing stays in Matera.

Have you ever visited a place that feels completely untouched by time? Let me know in the comments!

And if the cobblestones and espresso don't entirely cure the modern noise, Positano is waiting on standby. Italy continues to be the definitive gold standard for cultural immersion and intentional travel.

Passalacqua keeps getting rebooked. Baglioni Luna keeps getting photographed. There is a difference.

Two of the most talked-about hotels in Italy right now. Both charge what they charge. Only one earns a second visit.

Passalacqua is a restored 18th-century noble residence on Lake Como. Corner rooms with windows on two sides, the lake framed in both. Dinner in the Sala Ovale beneath frescoed ceilings, dedicated to fresh, seasonal, classic Italian cuisine. Breakfast spread across two rooms, with a live kitchen where the chef will cook anything you like, and a pastry display that belongs in a gallery.

The reviews that stay with you are never about the view. They are about the florist who makes a small bouquet for each arriving guest. The staff that feels warm and unscripted. The kind of hospitality that does not announce itself. Staff remembering that i take my tea with no milk and honey on the side.

Baglioni Luna in Venice is a different proposition. Grand, antique, gold and maroon. Steps from St. Mark's Square. The kind of entrance that earns its photographs.

What the photos do not show: some note noise and wear. Service that is pleasant but matter of fact. The grandeur is real. The feeling of being genuinely looked after is less consistent.

One property is designed to be remembered on arrival. The other is designed to bring you back.

Passalacqua keeps getting rebooked for a reason.

"You have to live your life as if the train is already coming. Stop trying to finish the house today. Sit. Enjoy the sun. The happiness will arrive when it is ready."...

'The Venetians say that the best way to get to know their unique city is to take any “calle” (narrow street) and walk it with your “nose in the air.” That way you can observe everything in front of you without consulting a map, and without missing a beat; don’t be afraid to get lost, as the enchanting paths will always take you back… to St Mark’s Square!'
