POSTS STORIES REELS

@tucommuniversity is proud to have sent three of our collegiate student leaders, community organizers, and economic researchers to the @childdefender1973 in Knoxville, Tennessee for an incredible learning experience.

As they explore the power of storytelling, leadership, and community change, they are carrying Macon County with them. More importantly, they will return with new ideas, fresh perspectives, and valuable tools to help strengthen the work happening right here at home.

At Tuskegee CommuniVersity, we believe some of the best learning happens when people step outside their everyday environments, listen deeply, build relationships, and bring those lessons back to their communities.

I will be joining them soon, and I am looking forward to being part of such a meaningful experience.

Thank you to @learningforjustice and to everyone who continues to invest in the next generation of leaders. We are excited to see how this experience grows into new opportunities for our youth, our community, and the future of Macon County. by @tucommuniversity

❤️ Love looks like togetherness.

Tuskegee CommuniVersity exists to bridge the gap between the university and the town — through education, collaboration, and shared growth.

We are youth-centered.
We believe young people should help shape the future of community.

Our website is launching soon.
And something meaningful is brewing for July 4th.

More soon.

Our stories don’t end with history—they shape our future.

Tuskegee CommuniVersity is proud to partner with the Macon County Chapter of the Alabama New South Coalition during Freedom Fridays to launch the Macon County Voices Project—an oral history initiative dedicated to preserving the voices, memories, and lived experiences of the people who have shaped Macon County.

Beginning July 10, 2026, we’ll be conducting community interviews every Friday from 6:00–7:30 p.m. at The Square in Tuskegee.

We’re inviting elders, educators, veterans, faith leaders, business owners, students, former residents, and anyone with a connection to Macon County to sit down, tell their story, and become part of the historical record.

But preserving history isn’t enough.

The same voices that tell our story should also help write our future.

Register to vote. Show up. Speak up. Bring your family. Encourage your neighbors. Share your story. Civic engagement starts with knowing where we’ve been—and believing you have a voice in where we’re going.

Because history doesn’t just live in museums.
It lives in our people.
It lives in our communities.
And it lives in every vote we cast.

Your story matters.
Your history matters.
Your voice belongs in the record.
