Presenting: THE ARCHIVIST 🎥✨

David ‘Doc’ Rowe has spent decades documenting Britain’s vibrant folk traditions. Now, with time running short, he faces a race to preserve his legacy.

Rowe has devoted his life to documenting customs, songs and celebrations that few others thought worthy of attention, building an extraordinary archive along the way. As personal challenges mount and the collection’s future grows uncertain, the urgency of his mission sharpens. With remarkable access, we get close to Rowe as he pushes forward, idiosyncratic and unflappable, navigating the fragile line between preserving memory and letting go. THE ARCHIVIST is a story about one person’s determination to celebrate the living traditions that connect us to where we come from and who we are, whatever the cost.

🌹 We won Best Film at @endorfine_rosa_shocking in Venice!!

We are thrilled and so thankful that our story is still grabbing hearts. And what a beautiful place to win an award. Our many thanks to the Festival Director, Laura and the jury

"As Katie's voice recounts the physical and psychological struggles she endures for decades, her animated figure moves with growing confidence through the ocean: surrounded by marine life and underwater forests of seaweed, she rediscovers a sense of belonging, freedom, and connection.

Through this poetic and metaphorical language, the jury has decided to give the main prize for PLUNGE by director Ellie Land" by @tykefilms

So great to screen our film Is Mum OK @fulham.pier a couple of weeks ago.

Organised with the @carers.trust in partnership with @fulhamfcfound it was amazing to see so many young carers in the room, their parents, and people working in the sector.

For me it was especially brilliant to see the young carers from our film, Aidan and Kai, talking so generously & articulately about their experiences.

Thanks @carers.trust for organising 💓 by @tykefilms

Plunge is screening on 30th September in Venice at the Shocking Pink Endorphins Festival with lots of other watery films

HOME WATERS. OCEAN STORIES. BIG SCREEN.

What makes a place feel like home?

The waters we swim in. The species we share them with. The places we return to. And the stories that help us notice what has been there all along.

This year, the Fremantle Underwater Film Festival @fuwff welcomes a beautiful ocean story from filmmaker Ellie Land @tykefilms to the big screen as part of HOME WATERS — FUFF 2026.

Through the eyes of ocean storytellers, familiar waters can become extraordinary again — revealing lives, relationships and wild places we might otherwise pass by.

Because knowing our home waters is part of learning to care for them.
