Camel vibes 🐪🐪🐪 by @tylka5

Last night was so cool! Went to Capturing the Spirit of Oakland, now in its 20th year. It is a tour of Atlanta’s Oakland Cemetery where some of the residents come out to tell their stories. It’s so well done, and such a neat way to celebrate Halloween and learn some Atlanta history too. Loved every minute and the cemetery looked beautiful.

Each year, different residents of Oakland are featured. So it’s always something new to learn.

Oakland Cemetery is one of the largest cemeteries in Atlanta. Founded as Atlanta Cemetery in 1850 on six acres of land southeast of the city, it was renamed in 1872 to reflect the large number of oak and magnolia trees growing in the area. By that time, the city had grown and the cemetery had enlarged correspondingly to the current 48 acres. Since then, Atlanta has expanded so the cemetery is now located in the center of the city. Oakland is an excellent example of a Victorian-style cemetery, and reflects the “garden cemetery” movement.

It was great catching up with colleagues and friends at SCTE Tech Expo here in Atlanta! Lots of interesting booths and equipment to check out, and plenty of good people to reconnect with along the way. Kicked off the week at the 60th Cable TV Pioneers banquet, a special evening celebrating the people who have helped shape this industry. Congrats to the class of 2026! #SCTE2026 #CableTVPioneers by @tylka5
