My hands down favourite technique for getting smooth, tangle-free hair without hiding my natural texture (which is BOMB). Have you threaded your hair before? #afrohairstyle #4chairstyles #texturedhair #blackhairtiktok #4chair by @uche_gang

Afros look AND FEEL powerful. DO NOT HIDE YOURS as a patriarchy survival tactic. It doesn’t work.

Tag a friend who is struggling with moisture retention! It’s not just about buying the latest product... Using products the right way makes a world of different #moistureretention

Both the protein concentration and the conditioning system in this product is better suited to high(ish) porosity hair. That said, lower porosity hair could get away with using this if their hair is not prone to tangling and if the rinse it off versus leave it. Very high porosity hair will not get enough moisture retention from this #highporosityhair #curlygirlmethod #type3curls #wavyhair #texturedhair @Curlsmith US by @uche_gang

🐴 Mane ‘n Tail was made for HORSES… but here’s why it actually works for some textured hair types 👇

The key is in the ingredients 🔎

This is a clarifying shampoo ✨powered by sodium lauryl sulfate ✨ which makes it great for removing product buildup… but also very drying.

PLUS it contains hydrolyzed collagen, which makes higher porosity hair feel smoother and stronger (but leaves low porosity hair feeling straw like).

✅ Best for: High porosity hair + heavy buildup
❌ Avoid if: Low porosity hair, sensitive scalp, or dryness

Use it every 6–8 weeks as a reset — not your regular shampoo.

💬 Have you tried Mane ‘n Tail on your textured hair? Tell us how it went in the comments!

🚨 Nobody teaches you this when you’re standing in the hair aisle…

Here’s the ingredient hack that tells you exactly how a product will perform 👇

Always check the first 5–6 ingredients — they make up most of the formula.

I broke down the tgin Rose Water Leave-In Conditioner and here’s what it actually tells us:

🌿 First ingredients = mostly water + botanical extracts (rose, lavender, acai)
→ ok for hair health, but won’t make your hair feel softer / more manageable immediately after

💧 Humectants (honey, aloe, propanediol)
→ hydrate hair across low and high porosity

🧈 Oils + butters (cocoa, shea, argan)
→ moisturizing, but lower in the formula so won’t weigh hair down

So who is this actually good for?

✅ Best for: low porosity hair + type 3 curls
⚠️ Not ideal for: high porosity or type 4 hair if you need strong moisture retention

This is how you stop wasting money on products that don’t work for your hair type.

Once you understand ingredients, you can predict results before you buy.

We went deep in this conversation.

In this live convo, Amaka from @uche_gang and I open up about the power of syncing with your body’s natural rhythm—through hormones, healing, and sharing powerful stories about our natural hair. We talk about what it really means to reclaim your rhythm as a woman of color in a world that often asks us to override it.

We also share why we created this event:
🌀 To honor the cycles within us
🌀 To celebrate our hair beauty
🌀 To co-create a space where science, spirituality, and sisterhood meet

Our special guest, Ashley Osbourne RN—founder of @biomeelite —will be joining us to share wisdom on the gut-brain and hormonal connection, we’ll also explore the power of AI wellness through UCHE, Amaka’s visionary beauty tool and chat about how to use @practicealuna ancestral Lunar mapping tool to stand resilient in our sovereignty.

💫 Join us for this FREE intimate gathering tomorrow August 7th 3-5:30pm in Brooklyn! Link in my bio to join! by @uche_gang

A few months ago me and Amaka met at a networking event. I was invited by @yayadacosta and was very happy to make new connections!
We are two women of color—one building with ancestral frameworks, the other with AI.
We started talking… and realized we were both tracking our cycles, both exhausted by the productivity grind, and both ready for something different.

So we created Reclaiming Rhythm—an intimate in-person convo about hormones, hair, healing, and holistic beauty.

Join us for a soulful, smart, embodied conversation about what it really means to care for ourselves in this wild world we are living in.
