The Talking Mules, with our traveling partners LSU-S, have wrapped up the first half of the 2025 Montgomery Cup. Thank you University of Cork, University College - Dublin, and Trinity University for being great hosts!

The Montgomery Cup is not just a chance for international debate, it is also a chance to experience a new culture. If this type of opportunity interests you, drop us a line! We’d love to have you as a part of the team! #TalkingMulesAcrossThePond by @ucmspeechanddebate

The Talking Mules virtually hosted and competed at the MAFA Missouri State Tournament over the weekend. We were thrilled to have some alums and faculty be able to join us virtually to serve as judges. Here are our results: by @ucmspeechanddebate

Pictured is some of our members of our speech and debate team, read the caption below to figure out how to help our team a bit more this season!
Today is Giving Tuesday and I have what I believe is a tremendously worthy cause - The UCM Speech & Debate Team.

Better yet, WE HAVE SECURED A DONOR WHO WILL MATCH THE FUNDS WE RAISE FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT UNTIL MIDNIGHT TOMORROW!!!

Would you be willing to partner with us to provide students with the opportunity to learn, grow, and compete?

If you or someone you love was a member of the ‘Talking Mules’, think of everything the team meant to you! Why not pay it forward to a current member?

We have established an account with the UCM Foundation that is dedicated to forensics. Only the coaching staff has access to the funds from that designated account, so you can rest assured that your tax-deductible donation will go directly to the team.

The easiest way to partner with us is to go on-line and make a one-time donation or designate a recurring donation. This is the way I like to give to the team. Each month an amount is charged directly to my designated credit card. I filled out the form, clicked submit, and now I don’t have to remember to make my monthly donation and filing taxes is a snap.

And remember, your donation is 100% TAX DEDUCTIBLE!

ANY amount given on a consistent basis adds up to underwrite the cost of sponsoring a student competitor giving them the opportunity to learn and practice the soft skills that employers are looking for. Would you please join us in helping to provide a Talking Mule this educational opportunity?

✨Student Spotlight ✨

Name: Caleb Wands (Lub)

Favorite part: Being apart of the team has done so much for me, but the best part by far is the people that make up the team. They are some of the kindest and understanding people that want to see everyone grow.

Best Memory: Going to the UK with the team and seeing several Castles was an amazing thing that I wouldn’t trade for anything.

Favorite Events: Dramatic Interp and IPDA
