His ocean of mercy take me to the shore

His waves of grace brought me out

From all of enemies plots and fiery darts.

October Reflections: Growth, Gratitude & New Learning Paths

As October comes to an end, I’m filled with gratitude for growth and new opportunities to learn. I’m thrilled to share that I have been selected as a Mentee for the 14th Cohort of the National HR Mentorship Programme, fully sponsored by the HR Certification Centre. The curriculum of instructions has been impactful

Working within the nonprofit and development space has continually shown me that no knowledge is ever a waste. Every experience whether in community engagement, programme coordination, or human resource management contributes to building stronger systems that drive lasting impact.

This mentorship is another step toward deepening my capacity to lead people, strengthen organizations, and contribute meaningfully to the SDGs, especially around gender equality, quality education, and good health and well-being.

Here’s to learning, unlearning, and growing because every lesson counts. 🌿

*A Journey of Advocacy: My Experience in the SDG Advocate Programme*

When I first joined the SDG Advocate Programme, I was driven by a desire to create change—but I never imagined how deeply this journey would transform me. Six months later, I find myself reflecting on a whirlwind of challenges, triumphs, and lessons that have shaped my perspective on advocacy and sustainable development.

*A Call to Action*

Advocacy was always something I believed in,then came the SDG Advocate Programme, a structured yet dynamic initiative that gave me not only knowledge but the confidence to act. My first weeks were filled with learning—attending online classes couple with my work and collaborating with like-minded individuals, and absorbing the real-life implications of sustainability. It wasn’t just theoretical anymore; it was personal.

*Making an Impact*

Among all the projects I worked on, the Own-a-School Project was the most rewarding. I had the opportunity to adopt a school, taking direct responsibility for educating both students and teachers about the Sustainable Development Goals. And this has enhanced my skills in project management.

Walking into the school for the first time, I could see the curiosity in the children’s eyes. They were eager to learn, but many had never heard of the SDGs before. I began with interactive sessions using storytelling and practical examples to explain how these global goals connected to their everyday lives.

*Lessons & Growth*

Beyond advocacy, this programme has reshaped me as a leader. I learned that change doesn’t happen overnight—but consistency, collaboration, and patience go a long way. I learned that one voice can inspire many and that action, no matter how small, is always worthwhile.

But above all, I learned that sustainable development is not just a global movement—it’s a personal responsibility.

*What’s Next?*

As this chapter closes, my journey as an advocate is far from over. The SDG Advocate Programme may have given me structure, but my commitment to change is lifelong.

I want to continue working on grassroots advocacy, empowering young voices, and deepening my understanding of policy and implementation. by @ugborruthenang

I am thrilled to share that I recently completed a six week virtual training course on the Freedom of Peaceful Assembly, organized by Hope Behind Bars Africa.

This transformative experience has equipped me invaluable knowledge and skills that I am eager to put into action in the civic space.

Throughout the course, l learned about the importance of peaceful assembly as a fundamental human right and its role in promoting social change.
I now feel empowered to advocate for this right and support others in exercising it safely and effectively.

I am ready to engage, advocate, and make a difference! Together, we can foster a society where everyone's voice is heard and respected.

Let's create a world where peaceful assembly can thrive.

Celebrating International Volunteer Day: My Journey with Volunteering

Today, on international volunteer Day, I want to take a moment to reflect on my incredible journey as a volunteer since 2008. Volunteering has not only allowed me to give back to my community but has also been a transformative experience for my personal and professional growth 📈

Over the years, I've had the privilege of working with various NGO's, each offering unique challenges and learning opportunities. Here's how volunteering has contributed to my career development and self-growth:

*Skill Development: From project management to communicate, volunteering has equipped me with essential skills that are invaluable in my career.

*Networking Opportunities: I've connected with passionate individuals and professionals who have inspired me and opened doors to new opportunities.

*Empathy and Understanding: Working with diverse communities has deepened my understanding of different perspectives and the importance of empathy in both personal and professional relationships.

*Confidence Boost: Taking on leadership roles in volunteer projects has significantly boosted my confidence, helped me to tackle challenges head-on.

Moreover, volunteering has nurtured my passion for making a difference in my community. It has instilled in me a sense of purpose and fulfilment that transcends the workplace. The connections I've made and the lives I've touched have shaped who I am today

As I celebrate this day, I encourage everyone to consider volunteering. It's a rewarding experience that enriches not only the lives of those you help but also your own.
Here's to making a difference together ❤️
