Hey friends - we are beyond stoked to present YI-WO, a new feature-length surf film by legendary artist, photographer and director @thomascampbellart at @preachergallery. Next Wednesday, October 28th from 6-9pm will be a very special night of art, film and music. Doors open at 6PM for a second chance to see Thomas’ stunning new solo show Recency Bias in person and toast his talent with a cocktail. Then at 7:30 we’ll present the film. There will also be a live musical performance from Tim Kerr and Jerry Haggins from @uparoundthesun. We’ll also have special drinks from our dear pals @betterhalfbar who continue to generously support Preacher Gallery and the art community in Austin. Based in Bonny Doon, California, Thomas Campbell is a self-taught painter, sculptor, photographer, filmmaker, and all-around maker who has spent decades moving between art, surfing, music, film, and books. His paintings are bold, layered, colorful, full of characters, graphics, and bits of text pulled from his own writing. His photographs and films carry that same dynamic energy. Don’t miss a chance to see one of the most soulful contemporary artists practicing across so many disciplines! As all ways, all ways welcome. Please RSVP to reserve your spot in the link in bio ^^ by @uparoundthesun

Up Around The Sun with Bosco ？ Up Around The Sunに合わせて母子も踊る！ All things must pass
Up Around the Sun with Bosco 2026. Oct. 10th #iphone17 by @uparoundthesun
“Temperance Reel” by Up Around The Sun with Bosco, filmed on October 5, 2026 at himaar in Iwakuni, Japan. Watch the full clip on our YouTube channel via the link in bio. Up Around The Sun features Jerry Hagins on clawhammer banjo and Tim Kerr (Big Boys, Poison 13, Lord High Fixers, to name a few) on open-tuned acoustic guitar, bringing a strong Celtic influence to the music. They invited Kyoto-based fiddler Bosco to join them for a recording in 2023, and the three have been actively touring together ever since. What’s especially striking is the way Bosco’s fiddling flows somewhere between Celtic and old-time traditions, giving the trio a sound all their own. They are currently touring Japan, with select dates also featuring screenings of the documentary film “You Can Color Outside the Lines: The Story of the Big Boys.” If you’re nearby, don’t miss them — ticket info is available via the link in bio. Huge thanks to Hiroshi Asada @hiroshi_tomscabin & Audrey Kimura @audreykimura for this amazing opportunity. Honored and completely mesmerized sitting down w the one and only @movetk, guitarist and songwriter of the legendary Austin hardcore band the Big Boys, Poison 13, Bad Mutha Goose, and now Up Around the Sun. @uparoundthesun is this week’s Vacancy Vibration w Junkyard live artist on Thursday night @vacancybrewing. Join us from 7-9pm for an intimate set from this trio and enjoy some amazing food from @salamsgrillatx and @captainspizzacompany, cold beer, indoors, w lots of good people. The show is free to the public and you can RSVP above at the link in the bio. Since Junkyard creates spaces for Austin musicians, we asked Tim to talk about his art garage where he rehearses, paints skateboards, and goes to work on a myriad of projects. Convinced the ghost of John Coltrane lives with him, Tim’s space is the center of all of his creative output. For longer segments of the interview please head to Junkyard TV on You Tube. All video work directed by @gasmarts. Hope you all can join us on Thursday night, August 20th from 7-9pm at Vacancy to catch Tim and his band live in action. Or…. As Tim would say, ‘just go out and start your own band.’ Creativity should be contagious! by @uparoundthesun
