Elevation Gain:60 feet
Pet Friendly: Yes, on-leash.

Getting There
Public Transit: Take UTA bus route 54 and get off at 5400 S / 1070 W on the corner of Riverside Drive and 5400 S. The trailhead is a few hundred feet north on Riverside Drive.
Driving: From I-15, take exit 300 for UT 173/5300 S and travel west for 3 miles. Turn right on Riverside Drive; the parking lot is immediately to the left.

This gentle wander is perfect for nature lovers. Belted kingfishers, American goldfinches, black-capped chickadees, spotted owls, quails, mallards, and dozens of other bird species
harmonize to compose a soothing avian ballad. Beginning at Germania Park’s southern trailhead, explore walkways along restored portions of the Jordan River. Take A Hike in Utah: Butler Fork
#UrbanTrails: SaltLakeCity, #TakeAHike, #TAH, #KRCL, #communityradio, #hiking, #SaltLakeCityTrails

Empowering listeners to get into nature and Take A Hike.

Starting Location: Butler Fork Trailhead, Big Cottonwood Canyon
Distance: 2 miles to 7.5 miles
Elevation Gain: 1000 feet to 1,900 feet
Pet Friendly: No. This is the Salt Lake watershed: no pets or swimming

Getting There: Driving is the only way to get to Butler Fork Trailhead. Drive up Big Cottonwood Canyon and look for the trailhead on the left, about 8 miles above the canyon entrance.

Butler Fork is a glorious autumn expedition. Several trail options vary in length and elevation gain. All share a steep approach that follows Butler drainage and gains about 500 feet of elevation in the first 0.5 miles. It’s not an easy start; however, the hard work is well worth the effort.
Any Butler Fork trail option will move through groves of aspens that blaze golden, pink, and red in the autumn sun. Plan plenty of time to wander among the changing colors. The trails are well marked.
Circle All Peak: 3.5 miles | 1,500 feet elevation
This is a great choice for a killer workout and an unbelievable 360-degree panoramic view from the summit of Circle All Peak. Go left at the fork and climb a steep trail through an aspen forest to reach the summit of Circle All Peak.
Butler Fork Loop: 7.5 + miles | 1,900 + feet elevation
This is the full monte. A great choice for a long wander in nature. Meander through aspen forests, gain a ridge, and gaze at he mountainous vistas. Go left at the first fork, follow the trail to Circle All Peak. Then travel along the ridge and descend an aspen forest to complete the loop.
Butler Fork Wander: 2 +/- miles | ~ 1,000 feet
The start of Butler Fork is challenging. For people looking for a shorter hike or the path of least resistance, after the initial 500-foot elevation-gain grind, go right at the fork. The trail becomes more gradual and moves through gorgeous aspens and autumn foliage. There really isn’t a destination; it’s more about the experience. by @urbantrails_slc
