Echo's Chamber🌛

I crafted this audio piece through recording the fantastical, slightly eerie sounds of the natural world around my beautiful home in England, as well as some more random additions engineered by me. To supplement the contemplative, pensive atmosphere, I wanted to have a little piece of Debussy's "Clair de Lune", one of my favourite classic songs about the beauty of nature (clumsily played by me), at the end of the composition to tie it all together.

The slow, almost heavy walking and breathing motions we can hear and feel are inspired by Ovid's characterisation of Echo's self-expulsion into the forest after having been rejected by Narcissus in the famous Greek myth. As a mountain nymph, Echo cannot survive in the woods, but her sorrow is too great to care. In the piece I wanted to convey this sense of longing and her acceptance of grief and pain.
