Adam Veith is preparing for a career in clinical nutrition, hoping to help people find dietary choices that support their long-term health. “I see my future career in a clinical setting practicing medical nutrition therapy. I want to better understand how nutrition helps support and manage a variety of health conditions. Through my internship rotations this year, I hope to gain a better understanding of the specific clinical setting I would want to work.” Adam is in his second year of the MS/GCPD program and is about to begin his dietetics training internship rotations, one which include working with the Emily Program which focuses on eating disorder recovery. “Prior to this program I had always fixated on the health aspects of food and hadn’t ever considered my relationship to food. This program helped me become more aware of how societal, cultural, and social factors influence how we view and interact with food. I now focus more on developing sustainable dietary habits that I enjoy and support my health. I plan to incorporate this into my work as a future dietitian.” Link in bio to read more of our Q&A with Adam by @uwfsnh

Ana Portilla (MS/GCPD '22) now works as a clinical registered dietitian on the Pulmonary team at Seattle Children’s Hospital in Seattle, Washington. She spoke with our GCPD team recently and reflected on her current role and how it aligned closely with her time at UW as a trainee in the UW Pediatric Pulmonary Center (PPC). "In my role at Seattle Children's, I provide medical nutrition therapy to infants, children, and adolescents with complex medical conditions and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams. One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is partnering with patients and families to develop nutrition plans that are both evidence-based and aligned with their goals and values."
