A song for Mercy ❤️‍🩹🪽

I have no plan for releasing this. It won’t be a single. This isn’t the start of some roll out campaign. I just really loved her a lot and I haven’t been the same since. Xx

Happy 9th Birthday 🤎🤍

Mercy rescued me at a time in my life where I felt utterly unsavable. I got her from a shelter at 6months old at the plea of my step sister who worked there. “You two need each other”.

Over the next eight years Mercy and I traveled the country more times than I can count, we met a girl, moved to NYC, adopted a cat, became best friends with that cat, moved to California, married that girl, built our little home, and grew a little bit older in the process.

You were everything good in my life packaged into one compact little unit of gas, snores and fur.

I’ve worn a lot of titles in my life but being her Dad may have been my favorite.

I hope wherever you are you’re sitting shotgun facedown in a pup cup enjoying Otis Redding’s whistle.

Happy birthday, Mercy 🤍🤎 taken in Burbank, California by @briananthonyjoyce

If I lived a thousand different lifetimes across a thousand different galaxies learning a thousand different languages I still don’t think I’d find the words for how much I’ll miss you.

I love you. My girl forever. Mercy.

I’m alive and wanted to say I miss you all.

Just finished my first screenplay, start making VALP3 next month with a special friend, spent the better part of last year scoring some incredible films for @mosaicproductionsla, went to the Grammy’s with my honey, rekindled friendships with my old band and got to design some really cool things for some really cool artists.

I’m really grateful for this little life and I’m excited to share a bunch of things this year with my special little community 🖖

Okay love you

Fun fact, the first black strat ever ordered technically was considered a custom order by Howard Reed Jr in 1955 because up until then, the stratocaster only came in sunburst.

When I first bought this guitar I had zero expectations besides making it my own. What I didn’t consider was that this instrument would become like an extension of my being.

This isn’t anything more than appreciation post for an inanimate object that I’ve given more meaning to than I should. But frankly, I can’t not. This guitar has reinvigorated my love of playing to a whole new degree.

I’ve had many guitars over the years. Some of which I’ll own forever, others already gone. But I can say with absolute certainty that, until my fingers no longer work, this baby will always be with me.

Anyways, thanks Leo Fender for creating such a babe, thank you Howard Reed Jr for getting the ball rolling, and thank you to all the endless list of predecessors who have made the black strat so famous. Honored to wear this one.

The post tour depression is REAL. Readjusting to home has never been my strong suit but being married to your best friend makes it a little easier. NOW GET ME MY GUITAR AND LETS DO THIS AGAIN ASAP.

32 days. 25 shows. 11 day stretch. 5 days of illness. 3 hours without gas. 2 blown tires. 1 guy hit by a car and an open trailer door spewing suitcases later, we did it.

@iamlaur.elle @cayleyspivey @kashjaegermusic it was wonderful spending the month getting to see the three of you bring your chemistry to life every night.

@braedono we began this run as strangers and ended it as brothers and I couldn’t be more proud to have done the damn thing with such an incredible musician and even better person. Now get back in the van.

Thank you @crissimichelle for having my back and championing me on my worst days and reaffirming me on my best. Your unwavering support for your people and keeping this tour a well oiled, low gassed (lol) machine is unparalleled. You’re a rockstar.

Lastly, thank you @emarosa and their entire camp for taking the chance on this project. They could have chosen anyone they wanted to be a part of this tour and yet, despite politics and vanity numbers, they allowed me the opportunity to bring this experience from my living room to the stage. Having the chance to share this with a community they’ve spent a decade building and having that community welcome me with open arms is something I’ll never take for granted. 🦊

I love you all. On to the next one!
