POSTS STORIES REELS

i realised i never made one of these, so here is my incredibly overdue ‘about me’ post! i cannot wait to continue documenting my writing journey.

I’ve been so inactive here recently— rejection letters from magazines will do that to you!— but I’ve also been reading a lot, so here’s a few literary snippets that made me close my eyes and think for a while. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did :)

This excerpt was drawn from Roland Barthes’ A Lover’s Discourse.

I’m experimenting with how I present my poetry on this app, so I’ve decided to post this here instead of on my poetry account. I could only think of Fruitger Aero when I was proofreading this piece, so that accounts for the background.

I was absolutely honoured and delighted to be one of @jacarandajournaluq’s salon readers at their first literary salon of the year (and my first ever literary salon)! Thank you to everyone who showed up to support local artists— I had the best time, and met the most incredible gaggle of poets, thinkers, and humans.

If you’d like to read the poems I read on the night, stay tuned— my Substack will be updated soon 🤓💜

Super stoked to be able to say that my short story, Take What You Can Get, is @afterwordjournal’s featured piece for its autumn digest 🍯🩷 I’d love for you all to check it out— the link can be found in my highlights :)

Hello everyone! My newest substack article is now live!

I recently rewatched Amélie, and I was reminded of the importance of finding the magnificent in the mundane. Given the especially trying times, there’s never been a better opportunity to step outside, attune yourself to the world around you, and try to carve out some joy.

hello everyone :) this is a snippet of my latest work in progress— a short piece that hopes to, by reinterpreting the journey of joan of arc, interrogate what it means to come to terms with oneself.

Sylvia Plath’s fig tree metaphor has compelled many a starry-eyed reader eager to project their perfectionist tendencies onto a brilliantly written passage. This is the part where I admit that I, too, was among this compelled crowd when I first read The Bell Jar three years ago.

Over the years, though, I’ve started seeing people use the metaphor to galvanise people into taking action, and to stop procrastinating. But that isn’t my understanding of the fig tree metaphor. If you’d like to read about my two cents on this topic, I would love it for you head to the link in my bio to read ‘On Plath’s Fig Tree.’

Hello lovely people! I just posted a new piece of fiction on my Substack, titled ‘Horoscope.’ Inspired by my absolutely terrible Co-Star phase, it recasts my feelings into a childhood setting that I had almost forgotten before I wrote this.

The link is in my bio! I would love for you to give it a read.

I acknowledge that it has been an incredibly hot minute since I last posted on this account, but I’ve vowed to share more of my writing as well as document the process behind my writing this year, so here’s a sneak peek at my latest short story. Tentatively titled ‘Fawn,’ it follows a girl as she teeters between childhood and adulthood; between her nationality and ethnicity; between what she projects as her personality and who she truly is at her core.

If you enjoyed this, please consider dropping a follow! I’m a young writer living on stolen Turrbal land who would love to say hello :D
