Liu Hsing-Yu presents by SKOG x Vasli Souza during Oslo Negativ Fotofestival 2026. In Liu Hsing-Yu’s photographs, the familiar becomes a place of quiet observation and subtle transformation. Working with the intimacy of everyday life, she explores relationships, family, memory and the emotional spaces that exist between people. Her images often carry a sense of stillness, but beneath their calm surfaces there is a tension between what is visible and what remains unspoken. Through carefully considered compositions and a sensitive approach to the people and spaces she photographs, Liu creates moments that feel both personal and strangely universal. There is a poetic ambiguity in her work, where tenderness can exist alongside distance, and the ordinary can take on a sense of mystery. Rather than explaining relationships, Liu invites us to linger within them, to notice small gestures, shifting emotions and the complex ways in which closeness can be experienced. ___ Video courtesy by the artist Liu Hsing-Yu @vanitas000 #contemporaryphotography #modernphotography #fotofestival #photographer #contemporaryphotographer by @vaslisouza
Amazing two weeks, and now we’re heading into the final weekend! We’re so happy to have Pixy Liao visiting us this weekend. A special collaboration between Rasmus & Brian, resulting in SKOG × Vasli Souza presenting the work of photographers Pixy Liao and Liu Hsing-Yu. Through playful, unconventional perspectives, they explore love, intimacy, and relationships, challenging the familiar through humour, role reversal, and staged moments. A big thank you to the Møller Collection for your contribution in lending “ Open Kimono” photo by Pixie and Oslo Negativ Photo Festival for making this festival possible. ____ Photo Tor Simen Ulstein #contemporaryphotography #photographer #modernphotography #contemporaryart #modernart by @vaslisouza
During Oslo Negativ Photo Festival 2026 SKOG x Vasli Souza presents Pixy Liao and Liu Hsing-Yu. Pixy Liao’s Experimental Relationship is an ongoing art project that explores gender roles, power dynamics, and cultural expectations through staged photographs and performances with her Japanese boyfriend, Moro. Since 2007, she has challenged traditional ideas about relationships by reversing gender roles and questioning who holds power and makes decisions. Overall, the project uses humor and creativity to question social norms and explore how love and relationships evolve over time. - Photos courtesy by the artist @bloodypixy . . . #contemporaryphotography #photographer #pixyliao #photography #relationships by @vaslisouza
FINAL days of Taavi @rekkaro exhibition "i would never remember saying something so stupid*" @vaslisouza gallery. summer show with miniature photo objects and sculptures. —- Installation shots by KUNSTDOK #torsimenulstein #vaslisouza #artexhibition #taavirekkaro Exhibition text: i would never remember saying something so stupid* *tor, a London morning 16.05.2026 In May of 2026, Rasmus, Tor and Taavi went to visit the Photo London art fair. The title of this show is from one of those mornings: Taavi read out a memory from the previous night, where his good friend Tor tried to get to the root of their cause. “we like to be like sad jazz we want to be like sad jazz” Without writing down, this or these moments would just be lived but forgotten. (It’s also fun to see Tor reacting to his past thoughts. For Taavi, catching moments is sacred. How can you be sure you even were there - did these moments truly exist? What have you lost if they get mangled up or simply forgotten? In his process Taavi is trying to catch fleeting moments like these - whether they come in the shape of photos, quotes, texts, paintings, sculptures or pieces of tape. Presented in Vasli Souza, Bastad, is a similar dissolving snapshot of Taavi’s ongoing project, consisting of photos and sculptures starting from 2023. Captured moments of good friends, places full of emotions and just trying to feel alive or just a bit happy. Thanks to all the friends, Vasli Souza family and Artproof. Taavi Rekkaro July 2026 Bastad by @vaslisouza
