People arranging things. The work created during the residency in @inndependance. Is a study in five paintings of the landscape around the Furka Pass and the people in it. The scenes were encountered during hikes from Inndependance to the two glaciers, Sidelen and Rhône Glacier. They depict small gestures of the human hand through which bigger things make themselves apparent. A trace of care between strangers - the glove weighed down by the stone. The one that someone had lost and someone had found. A barrier of a footpath - a gesture of protection, but at the same time a small scale expression of the artificial division of nature for and by humans. Stones arranged on top of each other - in a way a form of communication. It is the oldest way of marking a path and one of the simplest artistic gestures. The glacier covered with cloth to slow down its melting. It might be seen as a gesture of protection, even though the futile one. It is, however, a local expression of the global process of humans changing the natural world. Because everything around this place is so eternal and at the same time so fragile, I felt that the material to paint on should be somehow fluid to reflect this ambiguity. I chose the fabric and used the towels from Inndependance. by @vaynberg.a
The shelf for unfinished books. I start reading too many books at the same time before finishing the ones I was already reading. They tend to gather next to my side of the bed, sometimes forming small stacks, and other times resembling small mountains. I decided to build a shelf for them, so they won’t be completely abandoned. It is a low shelf made of spruce wood, with a small painting as part of it. The painting depicts a writer's table, serving as a reminder of books that are also unfinished, but in a different way. by @vaynberg.a

everyday spells / The story of the healed thigh bone. Which is an object that, according to archaeologist Margaret Mead, represents the first material evidence of our civilization. And not a tool or a weapon, as most would imagine. If an animal breaks a bone, it almost certainly means death, because bones take a long time to heal. A healed bone means that someone protected this person and took care of them for quite a while. So the first evidence of our culture is a sign that we care for one another. And not a tool or a weapon. [learned from the book ‘Die Dinge’ by @annabellehirsch ] by @vaynberg.a
