POSTS STORIES REELS

ADE has officially started and with so much happening across the city, knowing where to start can be a challenge.

So we asked the VBS.collective fam to share their recommendations for this year. From intimate label events and dancefloor favourites to a few spots worth checking out beyond the club.

Consider this your guide to ADE, according to the collective. See you out there.

A little taste of ADE without the late nights. Clone Records’ in-stores are a great way to get into the ADE spirit: cycle over after work, grab a drink and enjoy an intimate setting with artists who usually play much bigger clubs.

The music starts early, ends early, and leaves you with just enough energy for whatever comes next. One of those things that makes ADE special.

During ADE, we’re heading to Nous’Klaer Audio at Borisov. It is a free party organised by the Rotterdam-based label known for its forward-thinking approach to electronic music. Expect melodic and experimental music, a carefully curated selection of artists and an event where musical discovery comes first.

ADE isn’t just about the nights. Make some time for ADE Lab, too. It’s a chance to explore new ideas, get inspired and connect with people who share a love for electronic music.

Our tip: check out ADE Lab Discovery at Westergas. With free, open-to-join sessions and hands-on experiences, it’s well worth a visit, even if you’re just curious to see what’s happening beyond the dancefloor.

Jasper’s pick: OK EG.
An incredible duo coming out of Melbourne’s electronic music scene. Their live sets are some of the best things you can catch right now if you’re into minimal and deep sounds. Definitely one to make time for.

For us, SPIELRAUM has been one of those weekenders that just gets it right. There’s a real sense of freedom and togetherness, people are open and welcoming, and the music is loud in all the right ways.

Good people, great music, no need for much else. If you know, you know.

Three names we’d make time for this ADE: Naone, Tammo Hesselink and Shoal.
If you’re looking for something beyond the obvious picks, these are the artists we’d head there for. Add them t by @vbs.collective

Meet Hugo💚
Besides being a family doctor, Hugo has a huge passion for music, which he loves to share with his friends & family. He has been playing the piano since he was a little kid. It started with classical music but that soon expanded to jazz. He loves a good improv session and he can sit behind the piano for hours experimenting with the keys. These days he’s turned his attention to digital music. Just like the rest of the family, he loves to DJ and explore the music scene. The perfect night for Hugo is simply listening to tracks and discovering and sharing new tracks with friends. With his sets he tries to introduce the crowd to some hidden gems. by @vbs.collective

Save the date: June 27th for ‘The First Run’. Join us for a summer night of melodic house and trippy techno at De Roze Tanker in Noorderpark. Get ready for industrial club vibes in nature. Our family collective behind the decks with friends. Stay tuned for the line up.
Tickets available soon. by @vbs.collective

CATCH*UP or as we know him, Jasper:

Just like Floris, Jasper used to play an instrument during his childhood, namely the piano. Yet that didn’t resonate much with him at the time. His piano teacher told him he could barely sit still for a moment; he always wanted to move around. The last decade, Jasper found himself moving around a lot in clubs and at festivals. It brought back his passion for music. But instead of only listening to the performances of others, Jasper was convinced he could entertain people with his own music story. As CATCH*UP, he mixes spacy and tribal sounds. It is a blend of deep, groovy and atmospheric house and techno with punchy breakbeat rhythms and retro-futuristic electro vibes. by @vbs.collective

Floris love for music started at a very young age. He began playing drums in primary school and started DJ-ing just a few years later. His background as a drummer fuels his passion for rhythmic, hypnotic techno. His sets revolve around rolling basslines and driving patterns, often complemented by subtle touches of house groove.

Beyond music, Floris is also a historian whose research applies historical insights to contemporary policy challenges. Although these worlds may seem far apart, he seeks to let the creativity of music and the precision of academic work inspire one another. by @vbs.collective
