The Mahavidyas are not just ten forms of the Divine Mother. Each one offers a different way of looking at life, ourselves, and the universe around us.

I’ve tried to bring these ideas together in a way that feels both ancient and relevant to the world we live in today.

Have you ever wondered:

✨ Who am I?
✨ What is the soul?
✨ What is the purpose of life?
✨ How can we find true happiness?

Thousands of years ago, India’s great sages explored these very questions. Their wisdom was preserved in the Upanishads—the spiritual treasures of Sanatana Dharma.

📚 There are more than 200 Upanishads, but 10 are especially famous and are known as the Major Upanishads:

🌅 Isha Upanishad
🔥 Kena Upanishad
🐎 Katha Upanishad
❓ Prashna Upanishad
☀️ Mundaka Upanishad
🕉️ Mandukya Upanishad
🌳 Taittiriya Upanishad
🌌 Aitareya Upanishad
✨ Chandogya Upanishad
🌿 Brihadaranyaka Upanishad

Each one teaches a unique lesson about the Self (Atman), the Universe, and the Supreme Reality (Brahman).

🌸 In the coming posts, we’ll explore these Upanishads one by one in simple words for children and adults alike.

Pitṛ Paksha is not only about remembering the dead—it is also about remembering how the Vedas understood the relationship between the departed and the living.

In Rigveda 10.18, the departed are honoured, while the living are called back toward life, community, joy and longevity.

Remember the ancestors. Honour their journey. Continue yours. 🪔

✨ VENA SUKTA — A MYSTERIOUS HYMN OF THE RIGVEDA

Not every Vedic hymn speaks in simple, familiar language.

Rigveda 10.123, known as the Vena Sukta, is filled with striking imagery of light, waters, the Sun, the Gandharva, the Apsaras, and the mysterious figure of Vena.

The opening mantra begins:

“अयं वेनश्चोदयत्…”

The hymn describes Vena in imagery connected with light, the meeting of waters and sunlight, cosmic space, and the radiant realms.

What exactly is Vena?

That is where the hymn becomes fascinating. Rather than giving us a simple story or a clearly defined deity, it presents a poetic and symbolic vision whose imagery has been interpreted in different ways.

Perhaps that is one of the most beautiful things about the Rigveda:

It doesn’t always give you an answer.
Sometimes, it gives you a mystery to contemplate.

🌿 A lesser-discussed hymn worth discovering.

“I became Manu; I became the Sun…” — a profound declaration from Ṛṣi Vāmadeva, expressing a vision that transcends the ordinary sense of self. This hymn invokes Indra and speaks through the voice of the seer with extraordinary cosmic awareness.

A glimpse into the depth of Vedic thought — where the self, the seer, and the cosmos meet. ✨

Ṛgveda 10.190 presents a profound cosmic sequence: Tapas → Ṛta → Satya → Time → Sun & Moon → Earth, Heaven & Space.

Here, Ṛta (ऋत) represents the cosmic order through which existence remains harmonious, while Satya (सत्य) represents truth and reality.

A beautiful reminder from the Vedas: the universe is not merely created—it is ordered. 🌿✨

🛤️ Pūṣan Sūkta — the Vedic hymn to the Divine Guide and Nourisher.

In the Vedas, true prosperity is not a matter of chance. It comes through right guidance, protection, nourishment, and righteous action. Pūṣan is invoked as the one who leads us on the correct path, protects travelers, and grants lasting well-being.

May Pūṣan illuminate our journey and bless us with wisdom, abundance, and success.
