POSTS STORIES REELS

Since the news of Jordan’s passing, something has become overwhelmingly clear: there is an enormous community that loved Jordan and wants to take care of his family.

-

So many people have asked the same question:
“What can we do?” 👇🏻

-

This fund is one way we can answer that question together.

Our goal is to give Sarah and the boys the space to grieve while helping carry some of the responsibilities of everyday life that don’t stop during a loss like this.

Funds raised will go directly toward supporting the family’s immediate and ongoing needs, including meals and groceries, childcare and transportation for the boys, household expenses, home and lawn services, repairs, and whatever unexpected needs arise in the weeks and months ahead.

-

We cannot take away this loss. But we can make sure Sarah, KJ, and Chase don’t have to carry everything that comes with it alone.

Jordan spent years investing his time, energy, knowledge, and heart into other people. He built stronger athletes, helped other people succeed, and created relationships that reached far beyond the walls of Velocity.

Now it’s our turn to show up for his family the way Jordan always showed up for us.

Thank you for loving Jordan and for surrounding Sarah, KJ, and Chase with the same strength, generosity, and support that Jordan gave to so many others.

❤️The Velocity Sports Performance Family by @velocity_newyork

Coach Jordan demanded excellence from our coaches.

He believed that every athlete deserved our full attention and our very best effort. He cared about developing stronger, faster, and more confident athletes, but, as so many of the messages we have received have reminded us, he cared even more about the young people they were becoming. That will not change.

-

The quality of our coaching has always separated Velocity, and Coach Jordan played an enormous role in establishing that standard. Our entire coaching staff is committed to carrying it forward—to teaching, mentoring, challenging, and caring for our athletes at the level he expected every single day.

-

There will never be another Coach Jordan. We will honor him by ensuring that the principles he believed in remain at the heart of Velocity. We will continue what he helped build. We will uphold his standards. We will invest in our athletes, and we will work every day to make them better.

-

That is how he led, and that is how his legacy will continue at Velocity.

We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of love and support for Coach Jordan, his family, and our Velocity family during these unimaginable days. We ask for your patience and understanding as our coaches and staff return tomorrow while grieving the loss of someone who meant so much to all of us.
His presence will forever be a part of Velocity Sports Performance.

-

His legacy lives on in every coach he influenced and every athlete whose life he changed.

TRAIN. IN. PATTERNS.

-

A foundational concept that was present in Coach Jordan’s training philosophy was training in patterns👇🏻

-

Athletes move dynamically through multiple ranges of motion within their sports… 🥍⚾️🏀🏈

This creates patterns… 🔂

So as athletes, majority of our training shouldn’t be training isolated muscle groups… rather, train movement patterns that will be replicated in the demand of your sport 🤔

-

Take the reel above as an example: Lateral COD pattern block 👇🏻

⬅️Banded shuffle tap

⬅️Shuffle MB shotput

⬅️Shuffle to sprint transition

-

If you are an athlete that needs to improve their performance in their sport, but doesn’t know how to train the proper patterns… DM us “PATTERNS” & we will reach out and see if you are good fit to come join us here @velocity_newyork 🤝

We share this directly from a post Coach Jordan made on this topic a couple years back 👇🏻

-

“Why feed?

As coaches we spend most of our time finding the problem, queue’ing the correction & hopefully fixing the problem.

However, sometimes an athlete’s biomechanics simply don’t allow them to engage in the required sequence.

So naturally, most good coaches would regress, unload & start over.

But, we have a hack ~ by utilizing reverse tension, we can trick the muscles into firing in the correct sequence.

-

Example: you have an athlete who struggles to fire their hind-leg glute on an anterior lunge step, causing their hip line to break, chest to fall, disengaging on the ground i losing all value in that loaded mechanic.

By tensioning an appropriate @flexvit.band above the knee (tibial plateau), we pose a preemptive dilemma for the neuromuscular system, long before the lunge even starts.

Option 1) fire the glute to counter the band tension
Option 2) let the band pull you back into the rack (point of tension) ex the error that is being fed.

Option 1 is a fight response ~ as long as the tension is appropriate, it’ll happen automatically. That glute will fire and will remain fired until that tension is removed, allowing coach to continue the lunge progression, until the athlete has adapted to that kinematic sequence without the ‘Error Feed’.

-

Try it with most of those standard faults

• valgus
• upper cross
• ankle pronation
• asymmetrical hip shift”
