POSTS STORIES REELS

I first discovered the Bach Flower Essences working at a natural food store in Athens, Georgia in 1995. Unlike the homeopathic and herbal medicines, which I did and still do deeply appreciate, flower essences sparked a cosmic chord in my heart—a resonance that has only deepened over the years. They felt ethereal, yet deeply rooted to the planet, immune to the dogmas of medicine, yet rigorous in research.

Flower essences are wildly generous. As our species faces the real possibility of self-imposed extinction, essences have been discovered that literally support humans in their desparation about the climate crisis, the environment. We destroy the Earth, and the Earth offers us balms to assuage our guilt and horror at our own actions. Incredible. If that isn’t unconditional love, I don’t know what is.

Dr. Edward Bach was born on this day, 140 years ago. A doctor (who pioneered research in intestinal bacteria!) he abandoned a successful practice in London, moved to the countryside and spent the rest of his career and life discovering 38 flower essences that we still use today. Deeply spiritual, he deeply connected to the plants and trees, observed their signatures and wrote countless case studies, which hold up as fascinating reads today. His first patients were soldiers returning from WW1, “shell-shocked”, and although our understanding of trauma was inchoate in the early part of the last century, in retrospect we can see how foundational his work was. He believed in treating the patient, not the condition. While this approach is obvious to any practitioner of say, Chinese Medicine, this idea was not accepted in the west at the time.

There is much to be said about Dr. Bach’s legacy, which was ardently documented and preserved by Julian Barnard, who passed away only last week. I didn’t know Julian personally, yet have been unaccountably saddened by the news of his passing—he was considered the world’s foremost expert on the Bach remedies and spent decades preparing the remedies according to Dr. Bach’s instructions and publishing his works. I had hoped to, at the very least, meet him. But I am so grateful for his contribution to this work.

Join us for an intimate evening at Vena Cava with Valeriya Bobyleva.

Valeriya is a sound healing practitioner creating immersive experiences centered around rest, presence, and reconnection. Alongside a demanding corporate career, her exploration of yoga, breathwork, freediving, and sound grew from a personal search for ways to slow down and reconnect beneath the noise of everyday life. Using handcrafted Nepalese singing bowls and other instruments, she creates space to release tension, settle inward, and simply be.

Jessi will be offering mini-treatments and aromatherapy.

Space is limited to eight guests. We would love to see you! by @vena.cava.co

Sculpting Buccal Facial✨ by @vena.cava.co

Going with this caption, which is definitely not good for the algorithm:
Thoughts on inhabiting a body, what would it be like to feel at ease in one? the dialectic of dealing with the patriarchy and wanting to look good. it's a lot. by @vena.cava.co

Freeze or Free? 💭
Masseter Botox might offer quick relief, but the body is complex—and freezing muscles can create more problems than it solves.

The truth is, your jaw tension isn’t just in your masseter. It’s in your temporalis, your pterygoids, your neck, even your posture. So when we freeze one muscle, others overcompensate. The body always adapts—but not always in ways that support long-term balance.
We believe in freeing tissue, not freezing it.

Facial massage, myofascial release, craniosacral therapy—these approaches don’t override your nervous system. They restore it.
Botox has its place, but it comes with risks:
– Migraines
– Nerve pain
– Facial asymmetry
– Flattened expression
– Dependency

The face is deeply interrelated. Our goal? Liberation, not paralysis. by @vena.cava.co

The persistent anti-self-care trend perfectly illustrates how yin-deficient our culture is, and how feminine rituals are seen as fatuous.
💆🏻‍♀️
In classical Chinese medicine, yin is the root — stillness, receptivity, moisture, nourishment, the dark and the cool. It is being, not doing. Yang without yin is just burning. And we are burning.
☯️
Yin deficiency isn’t just an individual diagnosis. It’s a cultural one. Western society is pathologically yang — obsessed with output, productivity, heat, speed, extraction. Rest is laziness (there is no such thing as laziness, and when I say that, boy do people get riled up). Receiving is seen as weakness. The feminine, in all its forms, is devalued or monetized or both. We have built entire systems on the suppression of yin qualities, and then we wonder why everyone is depleted, inflamed, running on empty.
🕊️
Anyway, that was a lot. But here we are, tending to the gentle call of yin magic. We need it ourselves, and we believe this work radiates to everyone we come into contact with.

I generally do not like to criticize other practitioners but MY DUDES
If I see one more man tearing into a woman’s face like this, listen I’m gonna lose it.
If you’re on the same page as me, I really like what @aileyjolie has to say about feminist somatic healing.
