Came across perhaps the best installation advice I’ve seen in my two plus decades working in the bike shop. I really feel like this instruction should come on all components, and bikes. Only problem is finding a competent mechanic to install it now, since this has moved out of my wheelhouse. Anyone know anyone? #bikemechaniclife #justbikemechanicthings #competentperson by @viciouscycleshtx

No braking complaints, but I have to imagine that the braking power was not great… #justridingalong #justbikemechanicthings #yourbikehatesyou by @viciouscycleshtx

One years worth of riding. Pretty sure I remembered to get a pic after each ride, but I also don’t have the wherewithal to make such a claim. Overall these #pearlizumimtb shoes held up pretty well, and especially considering I ripped the strap off my first pair and they sent me new ones within a week I have no complaints. Probably still need to replace them, as they’re missing a decent amount of tread from my pedals. Now to debate the ease of simply ordering a new pair of those, or spend my precious mental energy trying to find another option. Suggestions welcome. Sponsorship request considered 😂 #pearlizumi #pearlizumicycling #houstonmtb #sugarlandmtbtrails #gorideyourbikeitsfun #nukeproofscout #mondrakerfoxy #specializedp1 by @viciouscycleshtx

Well, shit, it’s been a while since I cleared all the pictures of the various things that make me either shake my head, or just wonder how things are still working. In this collection one will get to admire the ever elusive “scrim”, some of the cracked shit that’s crossed the bench, and a collection of fasteners that are, uh, creative… #bikemechanicproblems #bikemechaniclife #justridingalong #yourbikehatesyou by @viciouscycleshtx

Wish I’d been filming when I crashed and ripped the saddle off the rails. Alas. Next time. I fixed it though. #anthillsmtb #anthillsmtbmx #nukeproofscout #gearmonkeybikerepair by @viciouscycleshtx

Always a good day to go and ride a bike. #gearmonkeybikerepair #anthillsmtb #houstonmtbtrails #nukeproofscout by @viciouscycleshtx

Another hot morning. It’s getting repetitive. Good showing today though I didn’t get much video. But did get a nice post crash selfie out of the ride, so I’ve got that going for me. #anthillsmtb #houstonmtbtrails #nukeproofscout #gearmonkeybikerepair by @viciouscycleshtx

Yet another hot morning ride. #anthillsmtb #houstonmtbtrails #nukeproofscout #hardtailparty #gearmonkeybikerepair by @viciouscycleshtx

Managed to get out before it got too goddamned hit the other day for a quick ride with @good_vibes.5. #anthillsmtb #houstonmtb #nukeproofscout #hardtailparty by @viciouscycleshtx

Odds and ends over the last week or so. Cracked headtube on a mid 90’s aluminum mountain bike? Old fuckin news, seen it plenty of times. Same with a broken cable inside the shifter. Though I do find when my shifting starts to act up the best thing is to just keep shifting and hope for the best. Axle being used as a bearing race? Yeah, it’s been done before, get more creative. Rats nest QR spring as a mobile art piece? Interesting, clearly represents something, something, something, not sure what but I’m not an art mechanic, don’t think that’s a thing. Headshock disassembled by someone who lacks the tools to get it back together AND breaks one of the roller bearing retainers? That’ll be fun to figure out. But honestly the carbon suspension bar is new to me. Very comfortable for your hands. Not so much for your face on the pavement, but that’s the price one pays for an inexpensive Chinese made bar. Clearly the only solution is to replace it. With the. Exact. Same. Fucking. Handlebar. #bikemechaniclife #justridingalong #justbikemechanicthings #gearmonkeybikerepair by @viciouscycleshtx

Still too goddamned hot here. Considered casing the jump for a cooling mud bath, but alas, made it with room to spare. #anthillsmtb #houstonmtbtrails #hardtailparty #nukeproofscout #gearmonkeybikerepair by @viciouscycleshtx

Spent a couple hours at the pump track while the trails were wet before going back to baking in the oven. Goddamn but it’s cooler under the trees. #sugarlandtrails #specializedp1 #itstoodamnhotoutside by @viciouscycleshtx
