Swim outside the box.

Boxes are helpful, they give us a structure that helps us organise and understand things.
They keep us steady, and afloat
comfortable and dry.
Things make sense in the box,
but in the waters of creative exploration,
the box shouldn't be where we are all the time, because just beyond it,
there is so much space,
to glide,
to meander,
and discover things you never might from the comfort of your box-boat.
The box is safe, and the waters are uncertain,
but what is certain is that there's only so much you can stretch yourself inside there.
So jump out,
let's go for a swim. by @vickies.shots

While taking photos with a phone, I've come across many interesting obstacles. In this case, I was a bit far from my subjects, and so the image lost alot of it's detail and texture. That's one way to look at it, another way to see it is that, the imperfections made it resemble a painting, a painting of light. Which is closer to the literal meaning of the word "photograph" than you might think...

I spotted two figures from the balcony at the back of my house. Although they were a bit far away, I could tell they were construction workers, who were moving zinc sheets off the roof of the building they were standing on. Eventually one sat down and the other stood above him. From my point of view, the zinc sheets had created a physical divide between the two men.
That visual partition, made me think about the divides that exist between people that can't be seen, things such as: tribe, religion, values, beliefs, class, and all the things that segregate us as individuals. Yet, inspite of that, we still form connections, build relationships, make friends, and find love, and I think that's very beautiful. by @vickies.shots

The Girl Behind The Lens 1

Today, I Vickie turned 21. I thought it'd be a good chance to say a little about myself.
My name is Victory ken-Nwafor Amarachi, and I am now 21yrs old. I like watching movies, my favourite genres include: Romcoms, historical fiction, period dramas, dystopia and space travel and more. I like spicy food, but no one else in my house does😐.
I love being outdoors, although I'm not an athletic person😅. I love being outdoors so I can observe, admire and shoot. I love nature, but I'm so scared of insects 🥲
I love space, and someday I'd like to have astrophotography as a hobby.
I love reading my Bible, especially the physical copy, unfortunately I don't do it nearly enough. by @vickies.shots

When something looks void of definitive meaning, it then has the opportunity to be interpreted by it's observer .
If I showed you a photo of a tree and asked, "what is this?" You would say, "it is a tree" now I show you this, what can you tell me?
That is the beauty of abstract, it gives you less information, so that you can have more imagination. It may not be your cup of tea, but I encourage you to take a sip anyway.

I took this shot from the top of a walkway bridge, and here's my own interpretation...

The earth was painting. The bed of multicoloured sand, it's canvas, and the flowing water, a brush that made waves and textures, while also reflecting colours from the sky, trees and buildings above. Bringing both texture and colour. The small pieces of stones and debris sprinkled around complete the image. by @vickies.shots

Shooting landscapes through the window of my mom's car is one of the pleasures of my life. I see so much, and so quickly, but if I'm quicker, I get to keep what becomes a remnant of the scene I witnessed.
Some days the ordinary neighbourhood turns into something worth admiring, and admire I will !

~This shot happened in a flash, but tomorrow I'll show you an image that required me to slow down, look closer and more intently.
Until then (◠‿◕)✨ by @vickies.shots

You'd be surprised the exotic scenes you could stumble upon if you'd be willing to snoop around a little...or alot ( ꈍᴗꈍ) by @vickies.shots

I was standing at the edge of the large football field in school, waiting for my friends to start their match, when something else caught my attention. The smaller, grassless field by the corner was occupied by a group of guys playing amongst themselves. I went closer and observed.

Dust rose from the ground with every leap, kick, and run. The sun, though not at its peak, still burned hot above their heads. However they seemed to compliment it even, radiating an ardor of their own.

Even though they weren’t dressed in matching jerseys, and didn't all have boots on their feet, they played as though they were performing at the national stadium. It was nice to see the focus they poured into this relatively small match.

As I observed all this, the word that came to my mind was PASSION. Whether it’s expressed in the streets or on a world stage, the fire of it consumes you all the same. by @vickies.shots

The market place is a great place to experience something called, CoNTrolLeD cHaOs.
I looked at this man and saw, around him seemed to be the words visualised.
There's always so much going, but somehow it's not too much.
From the moment you step, or drive in, to the moment you leave, your body moves with subconscious precision, knowing when to straighten or crease as you weave through the current of those buying, and those attempting to sell.
This scene says CoNTrolLeD cHaOs to me, what does it say to you? by @vickies.shots

Photo Of The Year.

In these few remaining hours of 2025 (at least in this part of the globe) I want to reflect on my year. I began this journey as the girl who couldn't stop staring, who would get pulled in, the girl who turned to photography, to freeze the moments each scene created.

I can confidently say that this photo you see now, was a turning point in my Journey. The process, from thought to product pushed me past my known limits. This may look like an ordinary photo, shot with a simple technique, but to me, to me, it's my olive oil, produced from pressing (pressure, intention and discipline).

I want to thank the person that helped press out this photograph @tobilobadearest_ you taught me (amongst many things) the importance of expressing my perspectives on, and through these images.
I also want to thank person that created the environment I could learn @taibatajiboye. Thank you both so much, I have learnt so much from you both and I thank God for the day we crossed paths.
Thank you to everyone who has supported and believed in me❤️ Thank you for cheering me on.

And finally I thank God, for helping me every step or the way, and for creating this beautiful world, I have no words. I truly am in awe. In my eyes, He's the greatest creative of all time❤️

Wow this is so long😅 but it's good to read long things, it helps your attention span, anyways, see you in 2026🎉🥳! by @vickies.shots

I was sitting on a bench, outside a building when I instinctively lifted my head from my phone and stared. Intrigued, my eyes began scanning the scene further.
It was a chicken (not a fat white bird, as I had initially thought at first glance) sleeping... in a tree? I didn't know chickens did that, then again, I don't know alot of things. It looked so peaceful.

The moon was there too. Resting in the sky, just where it needed to be to compliment the composition that had began to form in my mind. So I took the shot, and now that moment is frozen forever, in this frame. by @vickies.shots

I’ve always found it interesting that man-made structures and nature scenes don’t clash. Instead, when they meet, it’s a harmonious exhibition of the works of God and the works of man. by @vickies.shots

Yesterday, I witnessed with my eyes, and tried captured with my phone, the most transcendent sunsets of the rainy season. Although I doesn't show in these images, it was raining, and it was truly one of the most beautiful moments I've experienced. I can hardly think of words to express the feeling of it.
The rain was heavy, but it's drops looked gentle and golden. The breeze was firm and intoxicating. I was locked in this moment, and wanted it to last as long as possible. by @vickies.shots
