Good Night, Elohor
By Victor Ibekwe

The sun fades.
The earth tumbles.
My heart explodes.
Elohor is gone.

The first call came from Chinaza.
“Victor, have you heard? I hope it’s not true. What happened to Elohor? I know you were close to her.”

Panic took over. I started making calls immediately until I reached Ibukun, who confirmed the news.

And just like that, my world shifted.
Why is death so cruel?
Why take her now?

We first met in person on 3rd February 2024, during Kennedy’s first Q&A session—the meeting that eventually birthed the Limitless Club. I still remember your words that day when you asked your question after I had finished speaking:
“What can one do when burnt out and trying to navigate a new phase of life?”
As I write this, I can still hear your voice echoing in my head.

You had so many dreams.
Who will accomplish them now?
You couldn’t wait until June to clock 30?

Just recently, I was trying to buy tickets for the Grow Conference 2026. I remembered how I missed the last edition because I was out of town and promised myself I wouldn’t miss the next one.
And now, you won’t be here to welcome me.

Limitless Club gave us the chance to truly know each other. I remember how we constantly bantered, sending those Violence Department stickers back and forth.

Please come back.
I still have more funny stickers to send you.

The pain rages inside me.
Today, I write through tears—
real tears rolling down my cheeks.
My life feels swallowed by sorrow.
Why do we keep losing our loved ones to government negligence?
How long will young, bright lights keep going out in Nigeria?
Why does this generation value recording videos more than saving lives?
Why should doctors be on strike if our leaders are reasonable and humane?

Today we live.
Tomorrow we die.
We all have a date of departure, though none of us knows the day.
So now, my friend, I say to you:
Good night.
Goodbye.
Rest in peace, Lucky Elohor. by @victor.ibekwe1

WRAPPED IN MY FIST
BY VICTOR IBEKWE (VICTORSPEN)

Wrapped Up

My heart whispers to my soul that a life lived with an awareness of mortality is a life prolonged. Yet, I am shrouded in a cloak of sorrow, my eyes brimming with tears I cannot shed.

Miserable Life

My hands are clenched into fists. My sole purpose is to fight with greater resolve, but from where will I draw the strength? How does one battle an unseen adversary? Often, we believe death is the ultimate tragedy, but it is not. Do not ask me to explain; you must discover this truth for yourself.

A Turning Point

Now, I crave a transformation. The time for retreat is over; it is time to stand and confront my struggles. I am prepared for this fight. And in this moment, I recall the words of Victor: Do you know why change is so painful? It is because it demands the death of our former self to make way for our best self.

The Embrace

Today, I welcome the pain. I swallow my anguish as if it were necessary medicine, for it is the catalyst that makes change effective. If you, too, can learn to embrace this pain, then you may also step into the person you are meant to become. by @victor.ibekwe1

**Everything Fades Away**
*By Victor Ibekwe (VICTORSPEN)*

They say it’s impossible—
A bitter irony, it seems.
Yet reality tells a different tale.
Soon, the world will understand.

Everything fades away.
Money—vanishes.
Love—is forgotten.
Family—left behind.
Job—taken away.
Sanity—crumbles.
Joy—laid to rest.
Heaven—unknown.
Life—extinguished.

Nothing endures.
Only my bones remain.
Silent, indifferent,
Guarded only by my integrity,
With my shadow as my sole protector,
As I gaze endlessly into the waters—
A lifeguard with no retreat.

Nothing lasts.
Everything passes.
Even today’s debts,
All we pride ourselves on,
Every luxury we cherish,
Will one day cross the line into oblivion.

Remember the saying:
*"Naked you come, naked you go."*
Yet that doesn’t mean you cannot leave a mark.
*"Every day, I search for sustenance,
Lest what I find consumes me instead."*

We all fear failure,
But I, Victor, fear dying in poverty.
If I fall today,
I will rise stronger tomorrow.
I learn from life’s harsh lessons,
Not from fleeting whispers on a screen.

**HAPPINESS IN REVERSE ORDER**
*By Victor Ibekwe*

Today, we see smiling faces,
We hear the laughter,
We witness the bursts of excitement,
And we conclude that people are "HAPPY."

But what truly is happiness?
This question demands a deeper, almost clinical examination.
Laughter is not synonymous with happiness.
A smile does not equate to happiness.
Excitement is not a true measure of happiness.

**TRUE HAPPINESS**
It defies simple explanation or definition.
It is an immeasurable experience,
A profound sensation that emanates from the deepest core of one's being.
It is the embodiment of inner fulfillment,
A state of being that transcends superficial expressions.

**WHAT WE SEE IS NOT HAPPINESS**
What we observe on the streets is not happiness.
The people are not truly happy.
Hunger persists.
Problems abound.
Hardship is a daily reality.
Bad governance plagues the system.
Corrupt politicians thrive.
And countless other factors weigh heavily on the masses.
How, then, can we expect people to be genuinely happy?

My people are masters of pretense.
We wear masks, pretending that all is well,
When deep down, it is not.
The suppression continues unabated.
"If you rebel, you will end up in jail," they warn.
"If you speak out, we will silence you," they threaten.
With these tactics, they imprison not just bodies but also voices.
They instill fear, making us hesitant to speak our truth.

But I will speak, regardless.
"I will speak, even if it costs me my life."
"If I remain silent, I will still face death."
Death is inevitable, and I am prepared for it.

This is the reality we face—a world where true happiness is elusive, buried beneath layers of struggle, fear, and oppression. Yet, even in the face of such adversity, the human spirit yearns for freedom, for truth, and for the possibility of a happiness that is real and enduring. by @victor.ibekwe1

**I'm Dead Again** by Victor Ibekwe (VICTORSPEN)

Gone too soon, the obituary declares,
Tears cascade down grieving cheeks.
What claimed his life?
How did he meet his end?

Dead, once more.

Now, the world and all within it seem to conspire against me.
Each morning, I rise searching for a reason to endure.
Yet, all I find are burdens pulling me toward the grave.
My sanity lies in ruins,
My mind, once sharp, now feels hollow.
Life loses its meaning,
Religion reveals its selfish core,
Fashion appears trivial,
Hope fades into hopelessness.
These forces diminish me,
And leaving seems the only escape.

Death lingers, patient.

The truth is, living is the harder path,
While death offers ease and tranquility.
I imagine myself laid to rest in fine attire,
A serene smile gracing my face,
Embracing eternal peace in the earth's embrace.
Why fear speaking of death
When it greets me daily?
Not just me—
We all witness death, every single day. by @victor.ibekwe1
