It was truly a very special and incredible night to share with all of you. I could finally find a way to combine my two passions - science and music - on one stage. The custom visuals were created for me by @itsgrahamnotgram and inspired by biochemical concepts. Some of them are directly related to my PhD work, and others are exceptional tools in the field. 1. A human being. 2. DNA sequencing / sequence alignment with potential mutations marked in red. 3. Cryogenic electron microscopy reconstruction of a capsid - a protective protein shell of a virus. Followed by a flow cytometry simulation - a laser-based technique that measures physical / chemical properties of a single cell. 4. Alan Turing’s concept of morphogenesis - a way how complex biological patterns can develop from uniform, featureless state. 5. Confocal images of epithelium cells - body tissue that lines external and internal body surfaces, cavities, hollow organs. 6. @schrotthagen who headlined the night and put on an amazing performance. Can’t wait to have them back. 7. A photo of me with my favorite DJ duo. Still can’t believe I got to open for them in Philly. Thank you @pto_thursdays @djmisspowers @philadeep ! Thank you @tamilamars_photo for taking these videos, and @steveg.media @photokyleryan2 for capturing the night - recap incoming. Thank you @notophl for hosting! #techno #melodictechno #phillymusic #kobza_ua #femaledj by @vika.kobza
As my opening set for @schrotthagen at @pto_thursdays is approaching, I’d like to share a little teaser of some of the visual work my friend @itsgrahamnotgram has done for me. It’s inspired by the science he witnessed when visiting my PhD lab and by the research he read about in my publications. I absolutely love it and can’t wait to share it tomorrow, Oct 22nd, at @notophl , 8-10 pm! FREE SHOW with RSVP - link in bio #visualart #graphicdesign #scienceart #visualdesign #kobza_ua by @vika.kobza
This Thursday @schrotthagen makes their Philadelphia debut! At first glance you see a young dude and an unc and think… what is this? But the two of them have won multiple music awards across their careers…. Life is a collection of encounters that change you forever… Age is just a number… The dance floor is a place that once you feel like you’re safe & you belong, you’ll always come back… today, tomorrow, forever… sacred and protected (your host, the bossy blonde @djmisspowers will always defend you). Join us for what I know will be a proper representation of all of what @pto_thursdays and @philadeep stands for…. International headliners and local openers.. This is how Philly does (melodic) techno. Doors open 8pm @vika.kobza 8-10pm @schrotthagen 10-12am by @vika.kobza
