Two years ago, we signed a lease on a shop front in Brunswick. Somehow, against all the odds (in no small part thanks to our customers and friends of the shop who’ve been there to support us), we’re still here.

On Friday November 27, in celebration of our 2nd birthday, Blacksound Records will present for the first time in 4-dimensional quadraphonic sound:

Vile Apparition, Bacchus Harsh, Diploid, Sow Discord, Religious Observance, Rod Cooper: performing live on The Vessel, and Cadmium.

Hosted live at @quadraphonicclub , inside the former Pontian Community Club building on the corner of Victoria and Percy streets in Brunswick, the venue features a four-channel quadraphonic sound system designed to place the audience inside a spatial field of sound built for volume, texture, physicality and immersion.

Located 600 metres from Blacksound Records, Quad Club is easily accessible by car or public transport and features a full bar and kitchen. Blacksound Records selected DJs will be spinning music after the bands until late.

This is much less of a festival and much more of a party. Tickets for this specially curated presentation of death metal, grindcore, electronic, sludge, avant-garde and screamo are on sale now via Humanitix for the low low price of $20. Swipe through this carousel for a brief write up on each of these S+ tier artists.

We’re open as usual today from 10-6 where you can purchase many titles from the artists featured, online as usual via www.blacksound.com.au.

Melbourne’s @vileapparition_aus return to the stage following the recruitment of Brendan Sloan (Convulsing, Altars) on lead guitar and drummer Dom Duszniak. Their 2025 full-length Malignity (Me Saco Un Ojo, Dark Descent Records) was a highlight of the death metal calendar, now presented live for the first time in full and with renewed creative force.

@bacchusharsh is the alias of Melbourne-based multidisciplinary artist Christian Bishop, whose previous incarnation Xian was a pioneer of the Australian breakcore scene. The 2021 full-length Caveat Tumultum is the sonic embodiment of occult-themed electronics and deconstructed club music, de-territorialising exotica, occult psychedelia and indu by @vileapparition_aus

VILE APPARITION IS

Brendan Sloan - Lead Gtr
Dom Duszniak - Drums
Jamie Colic - Ryth Gtr/Vocals
Noah Papworth - Bass

We look forward to unleashing what we have been working on as we advance towards returning to live performance, and commence writing the follow-up to our sophomore album, “Malignity”.

As always, we thank you all for your bludgeoning support worldwide!

UNGRATEFUL DEADFEST DAY 1
@vileapparition_aus playing at the Bendigo Hotel
May 22nd 2026 by @vileapparition_aus

Vile Apparition is a old school death metal band from Melbourne, Australia. Founded in 2017 as a two project and later joined by another member they released their demo “Atrocious Captivity” in 2017. Over the years they also spewed out three splits and two full lenghts titled “Depravity Ordained” and “Malignity”. Brought to you by Me Saco Un Ojo records which is always a staple of high quality disgusting extreme metal. Great band for fans of Regurgitation, Deeds of Flesh, Gutless or early Suffocation and Cryptopsy.

AHC BACK ON THE MAP by @vileapparition_aus

Continuing the ‘Top 49 albums of 2025’ serie

Ranked 5…

With Malignity, Vile Apparition delivers an album whose reading is never given all at once. The canonical foundation is clear: a dense, rigorous, frontal form of Death Metal. Compact riffing, tightly controlled writing, and an implacable dynamic all contribute to establishing a strict framework that immediately asserts its coherence.
It is precisely within this framework, however, that the album finds its singularity. Malignity distinguishes itself through the use of oblique melodies, never foregrounded, emerging at an angle through slightly displaced intervals, prolonged harmonic tensions and lines that refuse any clear resolution. Added to this are constant internal deviations. The tracks evolve without sharp ruptures, favoring drift over incision, operating through micro-variation and minimal displacement that reconfigures the perception of the whole.
It is this combination that allows the record to reinvent itself over the course of listening. What initially appears strictly brutal and monolithic gradually reveals a far more personal mode of writing, one founded on erosion rather than immediate impact. The frontal quality remains intact, but it becomes a vector rather than an end in itself.
Malignity thus stands as a profoundly coherent album, asserting that within a tightly bounded canon, it remains possible to generate meaning through tension, drift, and nuance. A record that imposes itself less through what it displays than through what it allows to surface.

Released via @darkdescentrecords (US distribution) and @mesacounojo (EU distribution)
Lineup features Jamie Colic (vocals, guitars), Jordan Fernand (guitars), Noah Papworth (bass),and Ollie Ballantyne (drums).
Artwork, created by Sutter Cane, illusrates an organic spiral dominating the composition, featuring a genestealer-like creature in the foreground, while the background is gradually engulfed, revealing a monumental architectural façade being swallowed by the biological mass.

@vileapparition_aus hails from Melbourne, Australia, and Malignity is their second full-length release.
