Some years Ago, Everyone Called Us Crazy. Now, We’re Just Proud. 🇮🇹

We left everything in Oslo, Norway and made a crazy leap to become olive farmers in Massa Martana, Umbria! It was the hardest decision of our lives, but swapping the old life for sun-drenched olive groves has given us true purpose. We are absolutely obsessed with this new chapter.

And the result? An Extra Virgin Olive Oil we are unbelievably proud of! 🌿

Our EVOO has an exceptional acidity level of just 0.1%! That’s a huge win and a testament to the quality of our Umbrian harvest.

To the dreamers: Trust your gut. It’s worth it.

Do Not Buy This Olive Oil... 🫒
...unless you’re ready for the ”side effects” of true quality!

Most olive oils are a mystery, but ours tells a story from the heart of Umbria. Here is why it’s different:

• Pure & Natural: We never spray our trees. No pesticides, no herbicides: just nature.
• Maximum Freshness: Hand-picked with care and pressed within 24 hours to lock in the flavor.
• The Gold Standard: An incredible 0.1% acidity level (far below the limit for Extra Virgin).
• Directly to You: From our farm to your kitchen.
• 100% transparency.

Taste the difference of an oil made with passion, tradition, and respect for the land.

Ay ay ay, why do I always cry when I see our EVOO coming out? 🥹🫒 From the trees to the bottle, so much love, hard work, and passion goes into every single golden drop. Nothing beats this feeling!

Soon you’ll be able to bring our fresh EVOO to your home! 🫒 To keep things manageable for our little microfarm, shipping will be limited to the EU only. The heavy documentation and high fees for international shipping outside the EU are just too steep for a tiny producer like us. by @villamontiverdi

🫒 Olive harvest is officially underway! 🫒

We are right in the thick of this year’s harvest! The trees look incredible and the hard work in the groves is at full speed.

While the yield will be smaller this year, the quality is predicted to be truly exceptional.

If you want to secure our oil, don’t wait too long. 😬 by @villamontiverdi

Early morning light, mist between the rows, and a tractor ready for what’s coming.

This summer Italy has been hit by 5 major heatwaves - some counts say 8-9 hot spells - with July the hottest since 1950. Our olive trees felt it. They protected themselves, and gave us less fruit.

That means our 2026 extra virgin olive oil will be extremely limited, but also incredibly concentrated in flavour. The liquid gold from a tough year.

If you want to be first to secure a bottle from this small harvest, send me a DM. 🌿

Last steps in the sea before real life kicks back in. 🌊

School. Work. Lunch boxes. Emails.

And yes, we work too. Regular jobs between meetings, homework and inbox - and in between, we prepare for the most important weeks of our year.

That's when our olive harvest starts in Umbria - and this year too our Norwegian friends are coming down to help us pick. @_tanjamadsen, @paratridama, @jorunnygaard

We pick by hand. Press within 24 hours, cold - always under 27°C - and bottle it unfiltered with 0.1% acidity.

Cloudy, green, peppery. Alive. That's how real extra virgin should taste.

The EU limit for extra virgin is 0.8%. Ours is 0.1%.

From Sweden to Norway, from Norway to Italy. From beach walks to olive groves. This is when it really begins. 🫒

Who else is juggling everyday life and a dream at the same time? by @villamontiverdi

Passata day is not pretty.

It’s 35 degrees, the machine is loud and the kitchen looks like a crime scene. 🍅

But then you make this:

Rigatoni with today’s passata and a good glug of our own olive oil. And suddenly you remember why you do it. Swipe & enjoy! by @villamontiverdi

Fresh Pasta, Duck Eggs & Olive Oil Magic ✨🍝
There is nothing quite like making fresh pasta from scratch using farm-fresh duck eggs. The rich yolks give the dough an incredible golden color and a wonderfully silky texture!

For this batch, we whipped up homemade ravioli filled with creamy ricotta, bright lemon zest, and fresh basil.

💡 Chef’s tip: Try swapping out the basil for fresh mint next time for a surprising, zesty twist that elevates the lemon! Served simply with browned butter, crispy sage, and a drizzle of our very own Villa Montiverdi extra virgin olive oil to tie all the rustic flavors together.

And because no Italian feast is complete without dessert... we finished the meal with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a pinch of sea salt, and a generous drizzle of Villa Montiverdi EVOO on top. Trust us, the fruity notes of the olive oil combined with the rich ice cream and sea salt is an absolute game-changer.

There is nothing quite like the combination of fresh, creamy Burrata and vibrant, sun-ripened Heirloom tomatoes. But the true secret to this Italian classic? A generous drizzle of our Villa Montiverdi Extra Vergine di Oliva. 🌿🫒 Its rich, authentic flavor ties the entire dish together, turning a quick lunch into a culinary experience.

Whether you’re hosting friends or enjoying a quiet evening, this is how we celebrate the taste of Italy.

They are looking good so far 🧿

Being an olive oil farmer means carrying a constant stream of worries, before, during, and long after the harvest. It is always something: the weather during the bloom, the weather again, the olive fly, timing the harvest, booking the mill, and waiting on the quality test results, just to name a few.

And the list doesn’t stop in the grove. You also have to navigate the mounting costs of milling, glass bottles, bottling, storing the oil at the exact right temperature, designing and printing labels, managing shipping, and, perhaps hardest of all: making people understand why our oil is truly unique.

Yet, despite all of that, this is why I feel such immense pride when those very first drops of fresh oil finally say hello, and when I experience that initial taste and aroma.

All the relentless hard work behind our EVOO makes me deeply proud... and terrified at the exact same time. by @villamontiverdi

What’s hiding in mass-produced olive oil?
Do you know what’s hiding in mass-produced olive oil? 🫒❌

Many people associate olive oil with health, longevity, and the Mediterranean diet. However, behind the scenes of large-scale industrial mass production, olive groves are frequently sprayed with heavy chemical pesticides to maximize yields.

Here are some of the chemical substances commonly used, and what research reveals about their potential health risks:

Glyphosate: A widely debated weedkiller classified as a probable carcinogen (linked to lymph node cancer and leukemia). It is also known to cause damage to the liver, kidneys, and gut flora.

Deltamethrin & Lambda-cyhalothrin: Powerful neurotoxins that can damage the nervous system, causing tremors and skin lesions. They are also suspected of increasing the risk of brain tumors and prostate cancer.

Dimethoate: A highly dangerous nerve agent that has been linked to Parkinson’s disease, as well as cancers like leukemia and pancreatic cancer.

Acetamiprid, Fludioxonil & Cyprodinil: Endocrine disruptors that interfere with the body’s natural hormones. They can harm fertility, affect brain development, and contribute to liver tumors over prolonged exposure.

And i haven’t even mention what they add to the oil to preserve it for years in grocery stores. 😬

There is a better, cleaner way ✨
When you choose a bottle from Villa Montiverdi you never have to worry about this chemical cocktail. We believe in working with nature, not against it. Our olives are grown completely free of chemical pesticides, 100% organically.

It requires more time, labor, costs, and yields for smaller harvests but it results in a pure, authentic, and genuinely healthy olive oil that you can serve to your loved ones with total peace of mind. 💚
