POSTS STORIES REELS

Picture books shape how children understand the world. But what happens when their world is missing from the page? It has been humbling to realise that the lives of the majority of children growing up in India are almost absent from picture books. They see their urban or foreign counterparts, read about fairies and pranks—but what about the real subjects they grapple with every day?
Impact tales are essential because stories stay with us. It is time to expand the representation of under-served children in Indian publishing.

This book is created by working artists looking to give back. We realised quickly the paucity of high quality picture books for the underserved and set out to create a picture book that would instantly catch children’s eyes. It is a delight to see kids reading this book and giggling over it, or enacting the book. In play, so much gets learnt. It opens a dialogue within schools, teachers and friends that is essential.

‘Veera and the child bride’ is a picture book written for primary and middle school children to make them aware of the dangers of child marriage. This was a tricky book to write because the themes are so intensely adult, how do you make it accessible for kids? It also required a ton of real-world research.
We felt that we must give children who are at risk of child-marriage (both boys and girls) an opportunity to see another perspective that may not be available in their communities.

As @laung_elaichi expanded and opened a unit in the City of Nawabs, we were tasked with designing a box that reflected the culture of Lucknow. We drew inspiration from the style of architecture unique to the city, and composed a skyline with the imposing Rumi Darwaza in the foreground, with domes and minarets from various other monuments dotting the background.
The graphic was beautifully illustrated by @vishnu_noir with @theoddcollaborative

Hi All,

"Cat Needs a Friend!"

Announcing a children's book for toddlers. The book is published by our indie publishing space @studioniyet.

It's written by me and illustrated by the wonderful Vishnu Nair. @vishnu_noir

Cat Needs a Friend tells the story of a lonely cat in search of a friend. It's one of the simplest stories I have attempted, and I hope the children will fall in love with our Cat.

The 30 page book is sized at 23 cm x 23 cm, much larger in size than the books we have printed so far. :)

The book will also feature a free audio book, which you can scan and play along while reading.

Thanks a lot for the support you have showered on @studioniyet

Thanks and Regards
