Who’s ready to start talking winter forecasts? ❄️
The famous El Niño could make for an interesting and potentially historic 2026-27 winter on Sugar Mtn! Forecasters are watching for a wetter, more active storm pattern across the Southern Appalachians. Ray’s Weather expects a slightly warmer and wetter November, with a possible colder finish to the month. Looking further ahead, late December through early March could bring some of our best opportunities for snow, with January and February looking especially promising for bigger snow events. Last winter, Sugar Mountain Resort recorded 69.5 inches of natural snowfall. How much snow we’ll see this year is still up in the air!

A little color left around Luna Thai and Marketplace at Curiosity in the Grandfather Center. If you’re out exploring, there’s plenty of shopping and dining nearby!
Luna Thai is a fantastic stop for Thai food, sushi and other Asian favorites. And with 25 restaurants within 5 miles of Sugar Mnt, there’s plenty more to try!

Last night’s visit to Linville Falls! 🍂😍 These views are from the Erwins View Trail, which takes you to three overlooks of the 90-foot waterfall and surrounding Linville Gorge. Just about 15 miles from Sugar Mountain.

This is shaping up to be one of the longest-lasting fall color seasons we can remember! And with plenty of color still showing at lower elevations, this weekend is looking like another great one for a fall getaway.

Make a weekend of it and stay on Sugar! 🍁

With every day that passes, we’re appreciating the fall color a little more. It’s been a gorgeous fall in-particular, and it seems to just keep getting better! Color is still popping around 4,300 ft and below, with more to enjoy as we head into late October and November.

Weekdays are a little quieter around here, so if you can sneak away, come up and soak it all in with us while it lasts!

Kids outgrown their ski gear since last winter? Or maybe it’s finally time to upgrade those boots you’ve been hanging onto?

Ski Country Sports, located across from the entrance to Sugar Mountain Resort, has been helping folks gear up for the slopes since 1983. From skis and snowboards to boots, jackets and all those little winter essentials, they’ve got plenty to browse. They also have a state-of-the-art tuning machine to give your skis or snowboard a fresh wax and perfectly tuned edges before hitting the slopes.

And with some major preseason sales happening now, it’s a great time to stop in!

And they’re not the only ones! Other gear shops around Sugar Mountain have winter discounts worth checking out, too.

Happy Fall Foliage Friday! 🍁🍂 Fall color is making its way down the mountain! Up at Sugar’s summit (5,300 ft), most of the leaves have fallen, but down around the base (4,100 ft), the trees are still looking bright and beautiful!

It’s looking like it’s going to be a perfect weekend to be outside! ☀️
