Consider this your invitation to a wine-country renaissance. 🍷✨ Blasted Church Vineyards brings old-world drama, bold artwork and a distinctly Okanagan sense of humour together in one unforgettable winery experience. Inspired by Renaissance art and reimagined with a playful, irreverent twist, the winery’s larger-than-life characters appear across its labels, packaging and tasting room—giving Blasted Church a personality that’s almost as recognizable as the wines themselves. Set above Okanagan Falls, the winery pairs that theatrical identity with expressive Okanagan wines and sweeping vineyard views. A bit of history, a bit of mischief and a lot of wine.🍇 📍 Okanagan Falls, BC #VITISMagazine #BlastedChurch #BCWine #OkanaganWine #OkanaganFalls by @vitismag
What does altitude have to do with what’s in your glass? 🍷⛰️ More than you might think. As vineyards climb higher, cooler temperatures, greater UV exposure and dramatic day-to-night temperature swings can help grapes retain acidity, build flavour and develop incredible concentration. From Argentina’s Uco Valley to Summerland’s Garnet Valley Ranch, elevation can be a powerful—and sometimes challenging—winemaking partner. Discover how growing grapes at new heights can shape the balance, freshness and character of a wine, plus three bottles to try. The Osoyoos Indian Band, part of the Syilx Okanagan Nation, started growing grapes in 1968 — long before the region gained international recognition as wine country. Today, Indigenous leadership and knowledge exchange are helping shape viticulture from B.C. to Nova Scotia to Chile. From Nk'Mip Cellars — Canada's first Indigenous-owned winery — to Benjamin Bridge's collaboration with the Glooscap First Nation, to the Mapuche growers behind Chile's Tayú 1865 Pinot Noir, these partnerships highlight how Indigenous knowledge, collaboration and respect for the land can shape what's in the glass. Next up on our Okanagan Winery Guide: Bartier Bros. Set along Black Sage Road in Oliver, Bartier Bros. is all about letting the Okanagan speak for itself. Founded by brothers Don and Michael Bartier, the winery takes a thoughtful, vineyard-first approach to winemaking, creating expressive wines that showcase the character of the region rather than trying to imitate somewhere else. Stop by for a guided tasting or settle onto the outdoor patio with a flight and charcuterie, surrounded by vineyard and mountain views. Next stop on our Okanagan Winery Guide: Stoneboat Vineyards Tucked into Oliver’s Black Sage benchlands, Stoneboat Vineyards is a family-owned winery shaped by the rocky, mineral-rich soils beneath its vines — so much so that the winery takes its name from the flat sledges once used to clear stones from the vineyard. Expect expressive Okanagan wines, with a particular focus on Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Pinotage and Pinot Blanc, alongside sparkling, small-lot and reserve releases. Stop in for a tasting and settle into the vineyard courtyard, surrounded by vines and mountain views. 📍 Oliver, BC

The only part of the glass that actually belongs to you? The stem. It's a small habit that separates the wine-curious from the wine-fluent — and it's not just about looking the part. Holding your glass by the stem keeps your wine at the right temperature, gives you better leverage for a proper swirl, and spares your glass from a smudge of fingerprints between sips. Four ways to get it right: 1. Thumb, forefinger, and middle finger near the base of the stem 2. Just thumb and index finger, holding the stem delicately 3. Gripping the base of the glass itself 4. For stemless glasses, hold near the bottom of the bowl Read the full guide — link in bio. 🍷 by @vitismag
