I grieve in stereo - the stereo sounds strange. I know that if you hide, it doesn’t go away.

POSTS STORIES REELS

One year ago today, we lost my beloved nephew. It’s hard to believe a whole year has passed. Not a day goes by that we don’t think of you and miss you.

You may no longer be here with us, but you will always have a special place in our hearts. Your memory will live on through all of us who loved you.

Today, we remember your smile, your laughter, and the beautiful person you were. I miss you more than words can say. ❤️🕊️

Until we meet again, you will always be loved and never forgotten. by @vivaboyo

Happy heavenly birthday to the love of my life - @eatingmywaythroughoc - You should have been here today turning 55. Finally getting ready to retire and start working at the Honda Center as an usher to watch free hockey, which were the retirement plans you had told me since our first date. You should have been taking calls and text messages and reading all the birthday wishes on social media. You should have been going to dinner with your family and my family and then we would go to dinner together at a restaurant of your choosing that you would enjoy and blog about. And I would always tell you I was grateful for another year with you and write my annual post expressing my love and gratitude for you, and you would read it and say “oooohhh woman, stop being so mushy.”

But today there was only memories. The feeling of being robbed of many more birthdays with you. I went to Sara’s and our family sang Happy Birthday to you and blew out candles and released Ducks colored balloons we wrote letters on to you. As I sit here still in shock that i didn’t understand or know that last year on your birthday I had a little over 2 months left with you. I miss you so much my love. You were my gift. Always.

For Mike’s birthday - make someone feel good about themselves or make them smile or laugh because that is what Mike did better than anyone I ever met. And feel free to give a middle finger salute to the sky - I know he sees it.

Happy heavenly birthday My Baby - I love you always -love, Katie Lynn by @vivaboyo

Happy Birthday @mrjimdoyle - I’m so honored to be your sister and watch you and your creative and inquisitive mind continue to inspire me. You and @msrachiemarie have been there for me with such love that has meant the world to me. I can’t wait to hang out with you and Rachie next week in LA and go to a concert like we used to ❤️- I hope this year is incredible and full of peace and discovery always. I love you so much!!! by @vivaboyo

My Evelyn Elizabeth- happy 7th birthday to the bravest girl I know. I know this year has broken your little heart when Uncle Mike, who loved you so much, passed away. I know that caused you anxiety that broke my heart. But you have worked so hard this year to be brave and have that same beautiful heart like your Mama that has just loved me and helped to make me feel braver too. Titi loves you beyond words and I cannot wait to see what this year holds for you - I will always be here for you my sweet girl and your Uncle Mike will always be looking down on you and getting those letters you write to him on balloons you release to the sky. by @vivaboyo

40 years ago, my life changed forever when my little brother Michael Patrick died after a heroic battle with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma. That night I wondered if our family would ever know what happiness was again and I questioned everything. The last 40 years have brought my younger sister and brother who I have loved deeply since the second I laid eyes on them, watching my parents courageously navigate their grief journey and my Mom helping other parents navigate their grief journey, and 27 years later being in a hospital again on May 17th when my nephew was born, and my other beautiful nieces and nephews. Then August 9th happened and my world changed forever again with a new grief journey completely different from the grief I had known before. It is because of that first grief journey and seeing how my family has gone through that that has given me an understanding that grief is a journey. Not a feeling, not something to be cured or avoided, but a journey to be walked day by day, knowing that both joy and sadness can exist and that God will reveal moments when you will feel those you have lost and moments that are full circle from those losses. I haven’t arrived at those moments since losing Mike -it’s still too early, but I comforted that Michael Patrick and Michael Howard are looking down on me from heaven and that one day I will see them again. Parts of my heart will always be there with them as well. Tonight at 7:18 like we have for many many years we made sure we were together and released balloons to both our Michaels in heaven. We miss you both and love you so much. by @vivaboyo

Happy happy 13th (!!!) birthday to my Boo Boo - first of all, you are infinitely cooler than I was at 13 with my bad perm lol. Thank you so much for being there for your Titi this year with extra long hugs, making me laugh always, and still being my Disneyland date and coming with me to my first and only Ducks game since Uncle Mike passed. I’m so proud of the young man you are growing up to be and know you have an amazing future ahead. Just keep having love in your heart, a creative soul, and know God is with you and loves you no matter what you are facing. And Uncle Mike will always be watching over his Football League. Titi loves you so much! by @vivaboyo

9 months. I understand why they say the first year after losing your spouse is just surviving. May is loaded with memories and anniversaries. While I have been without the love of my life for 9 months, next Sunday will mark 40 years since my little brother Michael passed from Neuroblastoma. I realized this month that it’s starting to sink in. The heaviness and reality of your absence and the realization that I need to figure out my future without you. Which has led to a lot of nights of sitting on the couch or laying in bed being still and wondering if I can freeze time so I don’t have to make these decisions without you but I know that’s not possible. It’s just painful. Because since my little brother passed I’ve had a hard time planning my future because of the fear of the worst happening. Then I met you and the more time we had together the more I started to plan and think about the future and now that’s gone. So I sit again in that familiar feeling but there is not as much fear as there is sadness. And anger at your loss. Never at you. You were too lovable and we would have had an amazing future together. I know I’ll see you one day again baby. For now it’s back to day by day.

I will be brave for you. I will be strong for you. by @vivaboyo

Thank you all so much for all for celebrating or sending beautiful messages and wishes my way yesterday for my birthday. It brought light to my heart which has helped sustain me since Mike passed. I enter my 49th year with grey hairs, more lines and wrinkles a few (or more lol) extra pounds than 48. And I start my 49th year without the person who spent 16 of those years with me. I literally learned today that May 3rd is National Widow’s Day. It seems fitting as I’m still trying to figure out this title and what it means and how to make life adjustments that were suddenly thrust on me one horrible morning in August 2025 and still honor my husband as I walk forward in my life. My birthday wish is just for grace for those who have gone through spousal loss - I am understanding why the death of a spouse is rated as the most stressful event someone can go through but also seeing and appreciating the those fellow widows who have reached out and shared their journey and helped me to see a way forward has been such a blessing and the family and friends who have walked this journey with me have provided what I call numerous “air pockets” of joy and hope when the waves of grief are intense. I go into my 49th year being reminded yet again to not take anything for granted. So grateful for all of you!! ❤️❤️❤️ by @vivaboyo

April 18, 2015 was the best day of my life. The birth of my nieces and nephews and siblings come close but that day was the day I officially became Mrs. Mike Weber. We were two very independent but also two lonely adults who, when we met each other online, quickly realized we genuinely understood and loved each other and were happy to introduce each other to our friends and family. Mike wanted to be abundantly sure as impatient as I was that it would work and when he finally proposed I was genuinely in shock. As we planned our wedding, I was diagnosed with T2 Diabetes and hospitalized with Diabetic Ketoacidosis - when I let Mike know that he was more than free to change his mind if I was too much he said “in sickness and health Woman”.
Two months later I got to walk down the aisle to “As Time Goes By” we were so grateful for everyone who was there to share this day with us and the joy they shared with us. It was a huge party where families and friends came together and had the most amazing time.
For the next 10 years we had a marriage built on love and being best friends and having each other’s backs and hearts. I never in a million years ever imagined that till death do us part would ever occur as quickly as it did. I wanted so many more years of adventure and laughter and kisses and holding you hand or putting my head on your chest or taking vacations of going to Ducks games or going to eat at restaurants for your blog but I was robbed of that 9 months ago.
I miss you my husband. Every single moment. Happy Anniversary baby. I’m so grateful my sisters and brother-in-law and precious nieces and nephews were here this morning and for the beautiful flowers from my Mom and Dad and my Criterion family and my JJ. I know the exhausting grief I feel is the great amount of love I have for you. I’m grateful you visited me in my dream when i napped today (yes baby, I know how suprised you are that I took a nap lol). I will never forget our love story. by @vivaboyo

Happy Birthday Sara Elizabeth- I had to wait until I was home and sitting on my couch to write this as the tears are already flowing- how can I possibly express what you mean to me? Someone who has shared all but 18 months of my life with me - we have been through the most joyful and sorrowful times together and you have walked every moment by my side since Mike passed and have given me a safe place to grieve and receive love and hugs from the lights of my life, Andy and Evelyn. You have done this and been there despite your deep grief as you and Mike were truly best friends and you were his sister that he texted and talked to almost every day - his “Sara Jerkface” that he loved so much. I know your heart has been broken and yet you are always making sure I am OK and just being an amazing sister always. I pray for an incredibly healing year full of peace and joy and abundant blessings because you deserve that. I love you beyond words- Happy Birthday to my first little sister! From Katie-Katie❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ by @vivaboyo

Today marks 7 months since I lost the love of my life. I just miss the life force that was my husband. I miss the safety that was coming home to him and knowing whatever I was going through I could talk to him and more often then not he would call the people who were annoying me “gah-bage” and find a way to make me laugh and pull me out of any anxiety spiral I was in by just holding my hand and being him. I miss watching our TV shows and game shows from the 70’s and 80’s because he was full of nostalgia. I miss couple dates with friends where we would laugh and playfully tease each other. I miss taking my nieces and nephews when they were with me on a Saturday to get the special behind the scenes or in the walk in freezer tour from Uncle Mike. I miss how he would riff with his friends from high school, who were like his brothers, and I am grateful we still all text daily, they keep his memory alive. I miss driving to Yorba Linda with you by my side to visit your family. I miss how excited you used to be to be to go to my family parties and have the best time with my Uncles, Aunts and Cousins and going to dinner with your Uncle, Aunt and Cousins with you as you would make them laugh with your stories. Being back in this house, I see memories everywhere which breaks my heart but brings me comfort too. I’m not the same person I was over 7 months ago and I’m still not sure what the future will bring. But looking for pictures today, a thought entered my mind that crushed me. I only have a finite number of pictures of you as I only had a finite number of years with you. But your memory and the love I have for you that expresses itself as the deep grief i feel will be part of me as long as I live. I will be brave for you, I will be strong for and I love you and miss you so much my baby. by @vivaboyo

6 months yesterday. We had my company kick off meeting and it had a Valentines Day theme. Mike and I always thought Valentines Day was a Hallmark holiday and focused on our nephews and nieces instead. But I still have been thinking about love. I’ve never been big on self love and have always been insecure. Before I met Mike, I always blamed myself if a short relationship or date didn’t work out. I was obviously flawed. I didn’t look right or missed doing something or a long ever growing list of faults I accumulated in my mind. Mike came along and I learned what it was to be loved for being me just as I loved him for being authentically him -which was a life force full of humor, joy and love. We truly never fought, I look at pictures of us and I see my smile and I know how lucky I am to be loved by him. But I still struggled with loving myself. What I realized is that 6 months ago, the night of the day he died I woke up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat in my Mom’s bed where I was sleeping with her. I remember laying there questioning if life was even worth living anymore if he was not in it. I realize that choosing to live despite not knowing what the grief journey would hold or what the rest of my life would look like was a profound act of self love, which is growing because of the way I was loved by my husband for 16 years. With the help of trauma therapy, my family, co-workers, friends and working to be opened again to God’s love I am learning to fill that tank of love within me that completely drained the day he died. I understand that first night when I said “ I will be brave for you, I will be strong for you” I was not only saying that to Mike but telling myself that as well.

I miss you and love you every second My Baby - thank you for the way you loved me - it changed who I am and how I see myself forever. by @vivaboyo
