We reclaim our identity. We’re against russia’s imperialist ambitions. Hear our voices that have been suppressed for too long. #decolonizerussia

POSTS STORIES REELS

We, the representatives of the indigenous peoples of Russia living in free democratic countries of Europe, have united to become the voice of our small nations locked up in the Russian "prison of nations".
Our goal is to become ambassadors, the voice of our peoples deprived of their right to freedom of speech, who are de-jure citizens of Russia, but de-facto colonized non-Russians, who are often not considered their own by ethnic Russians, so our people suffer not only from the imperial policy of the Putin’s regime, but also from the everyday racist mindset of Russians and other white people on our own land, the land of our ancestors, once enslaved by the Russian Empire with fire and sword.
Our movement Voice of Indigenous Peoples of Russia aims to draw the attention of the global community to the catastrophic situation of a number of indigenous nations and the threat of their complete extinction. The struggling Ukraine thus frees not only itself from enslavement, but also sheds light on another aspect of the disgusting manifestation of imperial consciousness in Russia itself.
The moment has come that cannot be missed in order to free ourselves from the colonial past and realize the de-facto right to self-determination of all the peoples of Russia! This will save all nations, including Russians, from colonialism, oppression and miserable existence! by @voices_of_nations

Voices That Have No Right to Fall Silent

Imagine a language spoken by only one person left on Earth — and on the day she fell asleep for the last time, an entire vision of the world fell asleep with her. Thousands of years of knowledge about the stars, plants, and coming-of-age rituals were held not in libraries, but in people’s memory.

People whose lands, languages, and very lives too often became the price of someone else’s imperial ambitions.
Our channel is about them. About peoples who still exist today, keeping the fire of tradition alive against all odds. And about those who vanished, leaving behind artifacts, legends… and silence.

This post comes from our new rubric: short, but no less important. It won’t feature lengthy research — just facts. Sometimes exotic, about customs that sound like fiction. Sometimes tragic, about losses too heavy for words.

Together they form a mosaic of the real, living world of the planet’s indigenous peoples.

Every follower, every share is a small way to keep this memory from dissolving completely. Join us, share with others — together we preserve what might otherwise vanish without a trace.

And maybe you know a fact worth sharing with others? Tell us in the comments — your story might just become our next post.

VESAK: THE LIGHT RUSSIA REFUSES TO SEE

In May, Buddhist peoples across the globe celebrated Vesak — the sacred holiday commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and passing of Buddha Shakyamuni. It is one of the most important days for hundreds of millions of people in Thailand, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Japan, Tibet, Nepal, and many other countries.

It is also honored by the Buryats, Kalmyks, and Tuvans — Indigenous peoples whom Russia has spent centuries trying to assimilate into its vast empire of nearly 200 ethnic groups.

Prince Siddhartha Gautama was born around 563 BCE in Lumbini. Renouncing luxury and power, he devoted his life to the search for truth. After years of asceticism and meditation beneath the Bodhi Tree in Bodh Gaya, Siddhartha attained enlightenment and became the Buddha — “the Awakened One.”

At the heart of his teachings are nonviolence, compassion, and the rejection of hatred.

Buddhists are the third-largest religious community in Russia. But how does the country’s dominant faith act during Buddhist holy days?

While Buddhism teaches the value of every human life, priests of the Russian Orthodox Church bless tanks, encourage soldiers, and justify Russia’s aggression against Ukraine as a “holy mission.”

The Buddha taught: “Hatred does not cease through hatred — only through love.” It seems the Kremlin and the Moscow Patriarchate have little interest in such a philosophy.

Who Owns Russia’s Oil?

Beneath the tundra and taiga of Siberia lie billions of barrels of oil. Above them live Indigenous peoples who have inhabited this land for thousands of years.

Yet they receive nothing from the immeasurable wealth beneath their feet. This is not a metaphor - it is a documented reality.

The Khanty and Mansi.
Their homeland, Yugra, produces 60% of all Russian oil. They were once the majority on their own land. Today, they make up less than 3.5% of the population. The rest were displaced by waves of oil workers, displacing the true custodians of these lands.

The Nenets.
Yamal provides 90% of Russia’s natural gas and 14% of its oil. In just 60 years, the region’s population grew from 60,000 to 530,000 - but not because of the Nenets. Today, they account for less than 6% of the population in the region that bears their name. “Development” is shrinking pastures, lakes are losing their fish, and reindeer herders are losing their land through auctions conducted without their knowledge or consent.

The Evenki. Numbering just 39,000 across all of Russia, they have seen the 4,000-kilometer Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean pipeline laid directly across their ancestral territories, including traditional reindeer-herding lands. Public hearings on the project’s environmental impact were inaccessible to most of the people whose lives it would affect.

Russia calls all these treasures its own. But Russia’s wealth lies beneath someone else’s land. And someone still lives there. Not merely lives there - they are fighting for survival.

EID AL-ADHA: A CELEBRATION OF FAITH AND MERCY

Eid al-Adha (known in Russia as Kurban Bayram) is one of the most important holidays in the Islamic world, falling this year on May 27. It brings together more than two billion believers,
including around 25 million Muslims living in Russia - Tatars, Bashkirs, the peoples of the Caucasus, and many others.

The name of the holiday translates as “the Festival of Sacrifice.” Its origins date back to the 7th century and the story of the Prophet Ibrahim. His willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God is a narrative shared by Islam, Christianity, and Judaism, symbolizing the highest level of devotion to the Creator.

At the final moment, a ram was provided in place of the human
sacrifice, affirming the sanctity of life and divine mercy.

The geography of the celebration across Russia is vast. In Tatarstan and Bashkortostan, the day begins with a festive prayer, followed by family gatherings and traditional dishes such as beshbarmak.

🌎 In the North Caucasus - particularly in Chechnya and Dagestan - the holiday is celebrated on a larger scale: the meat of the sacrificed animal is traditionally divided into three parts:
for the family, relatives, and those in need.

This day marks the end of the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca and reminds believers of the importance of spiritual purification.

Muslims wish each other peace, health, and God’s blessings.

Let us do the same - because compassion and respect for life are values the world, and especially modern Russia, urgently needs.

For nearly half a century, the mountains of the Caucasus bore witness to one of history’s most relentless struggles - an empire pushing south, and a people refusing to disappear.

From 1817 to 1864, the highland nations of Chechnya, Dagestan, and Circassia fought not for conquest, but for the oldest reason known to humanity: to protect what was theirs.

Led by figures like Imam Shamil, they held off the Russian Imperial advance for decades through sheer will and knowledge of the land. When the war finally ended, silence did not follow - only exile. Hundreds of thousands were forced to leave their homeland forever. Many never arrived anywhere.

Some wars end. Some wounds don’t.

May 10th: Day of Remembrance and Mourning of the Peoples of Chechnya

This date is marked by a pain that has never faded. Established in the 1990s, it honors the victims of the 1944 deportation as well as the devastating wars of the late twentieth century.

On February 23, 1944, under Stalin’s orders, the Soviet regime leveled baseless accusations of Nazi collaboration against the Chechen people. Within days, nearly 500,000 were forcibly
deported to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. This was not merely a deportation—it was a systematic act of destruction.

Entire families were crammed into unheated freight cars and transported for weeks without sufficient food or water. Thousands died in transit; countless more perished in exile. By some estimates, up to a quarter of the population was lost.
Return to their homeland became possible only after 1957. What awaited them were ruined homes and the near-erasure of their cultural heritage. Decades later, the tragedy repeated itself,
as the wars of the 1990s and 2000s brought renewed death and devastation.

Today, while the Russian state formally acknowledges the deportation, it continues to evade full accountability. The shadow of Moscow still weighs heavily on a proud people.

Join us. We seek justice for all nations. The more truth we uncover, the closer we come to justice.

This is not simply about one politician’s presence on an international platform.

It is about how certain figures become institutionally convenient within a broader russian opposition framework. The figures whose inclusion helps reproduce a familiar image of “acceptable” voices while leaving deeper questions of Indigenous political agency unresolved.

If decolonization of russia is to be taken seriously, then the mechanisms of representation themselves must also be open to critical examination.

A flag is never just a flag.

It is an idea.
A struggle.
A memory of unity that once existed - and a hope to rebuild it.

The Circassian flag carries all of this:
12 stars, 3 arrows - and a story shaped between empires.

Some nations disappear from maps.
But not from history.

A CHANNEL ABOUT THE QUEST FOR JUSTICE

In 1945, after the most devastating war in human history, the world attempted to rebuild itself on principles rather than force.

In the Charter of the United Nations, a powerful idea was affirmed:
all peoples have the right to self-determination — the right to decide their own future.

Yet this principle has never existed in isolation. Alongside it stands another: the inviolability of state borders. Together, they form a tension that has never been fully resolved. Modern politics unfolds within this contradiction, where law aspires to clarity, but reality resists it.

Self-determination is not a formula that produces consistent outcomes. Through it different actors justify radically different claims.

What emerges is a landscape shaped by history, power, recognition, and timing.

Some peoples become visible to the world, while others remain unheard. Some claims are legitimized, while others are dismissed as threats to stability.

This channel explores that space of ambiguity — where human ideals confront geopolitical limits, and where the meaning of “a people” is never fully settled.

Subscribe to follow a world where law and justice rarely move in harmony.
