We want to introduce the artists of this year’s edition, starting with the talented ✨ Martyna Bogaczyk EN I’m a weaver and graduate of Textile and Surface Design at the National College of Art and Design. My practice is rooted in craft, with a focus on weaving and keeping traditional textile techniques alive through a contemporary approach. I mainly work with natural materials, drawing inspiration from their textures and qualities. My work moves between functional textiles and artistic forms. I’m especially interested in tactility and thinking about textiles as three-dimensional objects — building surfaces, depth and structure. Weaving for me is a way of holding onto place, memory and material. PL Jestem artystką tekstylną i absolwentką kierunku Textile and Surface Design w National College of Art and Design. IS Ég er textíllistakona og útskrifuð af Textile and Surface Design við National College of Art and Design.
🎬 Screening: Paweł and Wawel 📅 Sunday, 17.05 🕒 15:00 Directed by Krzysztof Kaczmarek Music by Łukasz Jastrubczak After the movie we invite you for a discussion with Krzysztof and Łukasz creators of movie and Rafał Koczanowicz with curator of the Polish Film Festival in Fjarðabyggð, member of Le Temple cultural collective, art historian and linguist and director of Slaturhusid Ragnhildur Asvaldsdottir moderated by Wiola Ujazdowska 🇬🇧 Paweł and Wawel drifts between road movie, musical experiment and absurd comedy. Set between Iceland and Poland, the film follows a wandering festival of Polish cinema through dreamlike landscapes and unexpected encounters: singing dogs, beatboxers in the forest, choirs of nuns and floating fragments of stories. A burlesque journey through images, music and cultural codes — where reality slowly slips into something strange and poetic. 🇵🇱 Paweł i Wawel to filmowa podróż między Islandią a Polską — gdzie muzyczny eksperyment, absurd i road movie splatają się w jedną surrealistyczną opowieść. Wśród śpiewających psów, beatboxerów i chóru zakonnic rzeczywistość zaczyna przypominać sen. Film Krzysztofa Kaczmarka prowadzi przez świat pełen humoru, muzyki i nieoczywistych spotkań. #pawelandwawel #krzysztofkaczmarek #lukaszjastrubczak #filmscreening #polishcinema #experimentalfilm by @vor.wiosna
“This workshop invites participants to explore personal and collective stories emerging from the “peripheries”—the edges of our bodies, identities, memories, and lived experiences. Using principles and techniques from dance movement therapy, we will engage in guided movement, improvisation, and reflective exercises to access non-verbal forms of expression and deepen embodied awareness. Through individual and group explorations, we will experience creative movement expression, where every story — subtle or bold — is welcomed. No prior dance or movement experience is required. The workshop emphasizes personal exploration over performance, encouraging participants to move at their own pace and comfort level. Verbal reflection and optional sharing will complement the movement practice”. Registration is neccessary - wiola.ujazdowska@gmail.com by @vor.wiosna
✨ We warmly invite you to the opening of the exhibition Woven Ground / Utkana ziemia / Ofin jörð by Martyna Bogaczyk ✨ 📍 Friday / Föstudagur / Piątek 🕠 17:30 📍 Sláturhúsið, Egilsstaðir ENG. Woven Ground presents woven works by Martyna Bogaczyk created through an intuitive, process-led approach deeply connected to the landscape of the East Fjords, especially the surroundings of Seyðisfjörður. Using undyed Icelandic wool, linen and raw wool textures, the artist creates tactile, sculptural compositions oscillating between textile, object and landscape. The exhibition draws inspiration from Icelandic weaving traditions and historical woven cloaks while exploring memory, touch, atmosphere and emotional connection to place. Curator: Wiola Ujazdowska PL. Utkana ziemia prezentuje tkane prace Martyny Bogaczyk powstałe poprzez intuicyjne, procesualne działanie i bliską relację z krajobrazem Fiordów Wschodnich, szczególnie okolic Seyðisfjörður. Wykorzystując niebarwioną islandzką wełnę, len oraz surowe struktury wełny, artystka tworzy haptyczne, rzeźbiarskie formy oscylujące pomiędzy tekstylium, obiektem i krajobrazem. Wystawa czerpie inspirację z islandzkich tradycji tkackich i historycznych peleryn tkanych z surowej wełny, badając pamięć, dotyk, atmosferę i emocjonalną relację z miejscem. Kurator: Wiola Ujazdowska IS. Ofin jörð sýnir ofin verk eftir Martynu Bogaczyk sem verða til í innsæisdrifnu og ferlismiðuðu sambandi við landslag Austfjarða, sérstaklega umhverfi Seyðisfjarðar. Með ólitaðri íslenskri ull, hör og hráum ullaráferðum skapar listakonan áþreifanleg og skúlptúrkennd verk sem sveiflast á milli textíls, hlutar og landslags. Sýningin sækir innblástur í íslenskar vefnaðarhefðir og sögulegar ofnar skikkjur um leið og hún rannsakar minni, snertingu, andrúmsloft og tilfinningaleg tengsl við stað.
