Massive shoutout to Team Vortex for showing up and showing out today! Medals were earned, records were shattered, and limits were redefined. Proud is an understatement—this team is built different. What a blessing it is to grind alongside such relentless athletes. Celebrate the wins, but remember—the work never stops. Back to it! by @vortexstrengthsystems

ATHLETE PR!!!

@lg_fitness777

Squat •500lbs/226.8kg
7lbs underneath comp max

Bench press •315lbs/142.8 23LB PR!!!

Deadlift• 545lbs/247.2kg 27lb PR!!

We’re very proud of lane hitting a 50lb PR within 2 blocks of working with him. While learning the sumo deadlift and refining his bench press!

A few things we did to help lane work through his shoulder and back injuries. We made sure to keep his secondary and auxiliary days super chill by giving him load caps/weight ranges. Allowing his deadlift to start from a neutral position, to help prevent any squatty or too upright behavior.

With the bench press the big keys we prioritized was maintain back of the neck pressure/constant leg drive. Trying for a more sustainable bench press instead of a volatile 0-100% style of pressing, which would inevitably cause pain considering his center of mass would shift as he brought the bar to his chest to lock out. These cues really ironed out the main problem.

There’s still some work we have to do but I’m happy with the adjustments we made to help him further his progress🙂 by @vortexstrengthsystems

TEAM DATRAPZ ATHLETE PRS!

2024 Oregon State Championship:

3/3 on squats, finishing with •202.5kg/446lbs
(State record!) 20kg PR

3/3 on bench, finishing with •122.5kg/270lbs
10kg PR

3/3 on deadlifts, finishing with •200kg/440lbs
27.5kg PR

Total: 525kg/1157lbs
Weight class: 82.5kg
9/9 total lifts, 27 white lights

Theo had an amazing prep. With squats, we prioritized being brutally honest with depth and doing our best to maintain stacking ribcage/pelvis positioning.

With the bench press, considering Theo is a full time student. He doesn’t have the privilege of training on a competition equipment so our bench tends to suffer a bit since we’re in between j cup heights and finding a decent bench to utilize. We worked on pauses, making sure the bar is motionless before the bar hits our chest so we can get a faster press command. Our biggest opponents last meet was getting a press command/hips leaving the bench. So we made it a priority to focus on pauses and utilizing consistent leg drive to keep hips on the pad.

With the deadlift, our priority was com management, and spinal positioning. Back in October we couldn’t really see Theo’s potential on deadlifts considering we ran out of gas by our 1st attempt. So the game-plan was to stay hydrated and keep the liquids/carbs flowing after each 3rd attempt lift.

Overall this was a beautifully executed redemption meet, and I’m very proud of Theo performance. We walked away with +126lbs/57.5kg prs across all lifts!

The worst possible conditions but with the best people possible by my side.

Prep could not have gone worse. An 8 week prep period turned into 5.5 weeks after a surgery, car accident and bicep injury. Almost nothing could've made it more challenging. Had to cut 10lb in about 4 days which my body did not appreciate but I made weight at 88.7kg. Meet started off well enough but ended with me throwing up my pre, Gatorade and food right before deadlift attempts. I knew I was gonna fail whatever I tried for my third attempt but we sent it regardless.

Got a silver medal though so that was cool.

Biggest shoutout to the coach @datrapz. Diego has stuck with me through my seizure, injuries, accidents, overshoots and everything else that had made his job harder. Sazna @discipleof.zyzz was the best handler I could've asked for under the conditions and was the only reason I was able to pull off a somewhat decent meet.

I would quite literally not be here without all the people I tagged in this post - Diego, Keem, Jack, Sazna, Ryan and everyone else that supported me these past 9 months.

First meet but definitely not my last. See ya'll in 2024 🫡 by @vortexstrengthsystems
