TEN YEARS!!! 🥹❤️

Still learning, still growing, head over heels in love with this art form. Forever grateful to my gurus and the village that has raised me and continues to inspire me

Forever grateful to Suresh Anna for taking me under your guidance when I was just a little 3 year old and nurturing me as I grew, helping me discover and carry this love and passion for dance throughout my life 🙏

Thank you Bragha Aunty for teaching me two beautiful Padams that continue to hold a special place in my heart, deepening my love for dance and my devotion to Krishna ❤️ by @vvishcreations

Samvada - A Dialogue in Motion 🎬✨

Today was film day!
So incredibly lucky to have worked alongside such a beautiful group of artists: our amazing dancers, musicians and film crew ❤️❤️❤️

A very vibrant, energetic and beautifully chaotic public holiday, but honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way! So grateful to everyone who brought their creativity and style into this project!

I can’t wait for you to see it!

For my final third-year Repertoire assessment, I chose to present Father: Vision of the Floating World, a powerful and emotionally charged work choreographed by British-Bangladeshi choreographer Akram Khan, with music composed by Vincenzo Lamagna and vocals by Sohini Alam.

The work was created in 2020 as part of celebrations marking the centenary of the birth of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding leader and first president of Bangladesh, who is widely referred to as the “Father of the Nation.” The work was performed in Dhaka in 2020.

I chose this piece because of the way it brings together movement, dialogue and music to create a powerful emotional world. I was particularly drawn to Khan’s use of storytelling through the body, as well as his incorporation of gesture and different movement languages. The work shifts between moments of stillness, subtlety and intense gestural physicality, creating constantly changing dynamics and emotional tension.

This work challenged me to move beyond purely physical expression and consider how I can use my body, voice, musicality and dynamics to create a more complete and emotionally connected performance.

Today, on Krishna Janmashtami, I found myself revisiting old videos of my dancing and my many moments as cheeky little Krishna. Looking back, I realise that my love and adoration for Krishna has only grown as I have grown.

I remember having a conversation with Amma when I was younger, asking her why I always had to play Krishna while all the other Akkas got to play the Gopis and Radha. But now, looking back, I realise that the role of Krishna has been such an important and beautiful part of my dancing journey.

Here’s a little video of me as Baby Krishna, dancing with one of my Gopis @aditi_ravi1 💙

Happy Krishna Janmashtami! ✨ by @vvishcreations

As part of my 3rd year creative process, I was particularly interested in how music could strengthen the bridge between the two forms and create a shared space for dialogue and connection.

We Live in Time is a dance work that explores the human condition through a Memento Mori lens.
Memento Mori is a Latin phrase translating to ‘Remember to Die’. This saying is not to discuss death in a morbid sense, but rather to acknowledge its inevitability and bring perspective to our lives, so that we, as humans, remember to live fully, be present, and connect with ourselves in a natural sense as creatures on this earth. We Live in Time asks you to question what makes you human and how you can live in the present moment.

Choreography: me in collaboration with the cast
