From April, Godfrey’s wife:
It’s been a challenging year since Godfrey was detained and, eventually, deported. Time has both flown and crawled, leaving a mix of emotions that are hard to capture. I’m here in Covington, Georgia, trying to keep our household running while also supporting him as he starts over in Jamaica. Balancing these responsibilities is tough, and I often find myself overwhelmed by the weight of it all.

The financial strain is compounded by the emotional distance, as we navigate this uncertain path apart yet together in spirit. Each day brings new hurdles, from maintaining our home to helping Godfrey rebuild his life from afar. The $20,000 goal isn’t just a number; it represents stability for us both and the hope that we can overcome this separation with dignity and resilience.

Even in these moments of difficulty, I hold onto the warmth of shared memories and the belief that brighter days are ahead. This journey has taught me the strength of community and the importance of holding onto the threads of love and support that bind us. by @wadegodfrey

As the year comes to a close, I want to thank anyone that reached out to myself and our family in support. Godfrey has been gone for over 100 days at Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Ga. These days have not been easy. God has maintained his strength as well as mine.
It's not easy being detained for anyone. Godfrey has missed the last few holidays. He lost weight and his health is comprised due to the coldness of the facility. Instead of bringing in the New Year with family, he will bring it in with 2000 other detainees.
I've shared a few of the faces he's drawn. Every immigrant has a story and not everyone is a criminal. Some people have lived here their entire lives. They have contributed to society and raised families. Godfrey is one of those people. He is a highly decorated military veteran and wants to stay in this country.
God is love and God redeems.
Please continue to share his story. The gofundme assists with legal fees and expenses.
