Save me a dance! 🫶🏼✨ by @wahlaine.dancing
Spotlight practice felt good. I can see me pushing the delay in the groove with the vocalist and making more layered musical choices in this dance. Did we stay in the pocket? Thank you Willow for dancing with me! Your patience made me sink into this dance and not over do it. 📍 @socalwesty ‘s Black Out Friday Spotlight Strictly #chosenpartnerrandomsong with @willow.hope_dance 🎧 “Can We Talk” by Kenyon Dixon & Will Gittens #westcoastswing #improv #femalelead #partnerdance by @wahlaine.dancing
Flowin and vibin last night. Thank you Ryan for the fun dances! Obsessed with how my new hair feels. I’m excited to grow my ability to do more hair-ography. Also love watching me grow as a follow, she’s growing in trust and living in the moments to groove without hurry. (low key feels like life) 📍”The Flow” late night social @swinginthevalley @aestheticstudiosshermanoaks Lead: Ryan @heyimryry Follow: Elaine (me) 🎧”nuh uh” by Jades Goudreault #westcoastswing #improv #partnerdance #latenight #socialdancing by @wahlaine.dancing
Standout dances are the ones with those that light up because they trust that I’m listening to them too. Connection matters to me so much! I can’t get enough. Monica, you stand out not just because of your incredible skill but also because of your connection! Thanks for always being one of my most memorable dances at comp and at social! See you on the next one. Hopefully we get song 1 next time. ✨ 📍 @halloweenswingthing Advance JJ Prelim with @monicahhuang 🎧 12 to 12 by Sombr #westcoastswing #improv #competition #partnerdance #femalelead by @wahlaine.dancing
YAY I drew a friend! It happens so rarely. But when it does, I immediately feel like the best dancer on the floor! Thank you Elliott, this was such a highlight dance for me! Your patience and musicality was such a gift especially with instrumentals like this. 📍 @swingtacular Intermediate JJ with @elliosween 🎧 Black Satin by Katie Webster #westcoastswing #improv #partnerdance #competition by @wahlaine.dancing
Update! My knee is feeling better! In case you didn’t know, I was dealing with over 3 months of chronic inflammation and pain on my left knee this summer. It’s a great thing that I have such a knowledgeable, intuitive, and effective chiropractor @active.care.chiro He helps me continue dancing! Injuries suck and finding the right care is expensive and stressful. Thank you for praying and being in patient with me when I couldn’t dance as much as I wanted to. I’m still healing but now I can dance with a lot less pain. I’m such a big believer in chiropractic care because visits with Dr Wogahn was the only thing that helped relieve my frozen neck and shoulder pain in 2021. I’ve been on regular monthly maintenance. Continuing my visits with Dr. Kris has been a self care practice that has allowed me to grow my dance and maintain my athleticism. #dancercare #kneepainrelief #competitivedancer #westcoastswing by @wahlaine.dancing

Most excited for switch competitions. Random pairing with a switch dancer is my absolute favorite. Drawing pro champs like Mia and Sam just blows my mind! These are my OG switch inspirations! Thank you Mia for inspiring me and dancing switch with me!!! The first dancer I’ve ever seen switch in the wild was Mia at a TAP event about 4 years ago. I was so brand new to wcs but I knew I wanted to do what she was doing. And now I got to switch with her and it went well!!! 🙌 📍 @atx.rox Switch JJ Prelim with @mia_primavera_wcs 🎧 Closer by The Chainsmokers #westcoastswing #improv #switchdance #partnerdance by @wahlaine.dancing
First Advance final and I could not have imagined it to go any better than it did! I’m really proud of this dance! Thank you all for those who cheered for us! progress win: I successfully executed a crowd run in a spotlight! 🙌 Laura thank you for trusting me, joyfully connecting and dancing through this adventure with me. Your positive presence assured me that we will only have a good time and nothing less. Switching to 120bpm music was a trip and so so fun! 🥵 We did our best to keep up and had some really cool moments. It was so special drawing you Sam! We just danced our dance and the judges liked it 🫶🏼 Thank you for all the dances! 📍 @atx.rox SWITCH JJ - Finals 🥈 with @samanthajane_7 🎧 POP by *NSYNC #westcoastswing #switchdance #femalelead #improv by @wahlaine.dancing
Had some memorable moments with Suzy in these dances. Here’s just some of my favs. Low key, I thought we got disqualified. I don’t really know the specific rules but I hear one of us at least have to be touching the ground. I admit we got a bit carried away on this last song 😅 I don’t regret having a lot of fun! Quick Google result: “In World Swing Dance Council (WSDC) Jack and Jill competitions, “in-the-air” partner weight-support moves—including lifts, aerials, and acrobatic maneuvers—are strictly prohibited. While on-the-ground support moves like drops or slides are permitted, both dancers must maintain at least one foot in physical contact with the floor at all times” 📍 @westiepit Progressive JJ 🥈 with @suzyqwho 🎧 This Girl by Kungs, Cookin’ On 3 Burners 🎧 Yes Mom by Tessa Violet 🎧 Beautiful by Mali Music #westcoastswing #improv #femalelead by @wahlaine.dancing
We don’t dance to enough hip hop music. We tried to give it some of that feel. Thank you Kelly for getting out there with me. So much fun dancing with you! Progress update: I remembered to dance towards the audience corner stage and center stage! (I may have extra remembered because my teacher Sam was in audience and she would notice if I didn’t do what she taught me to do!) bonus: I remembered to bow before running back to my seat! hehe 📍 @socalwesty Black Out Friday DJ @shaheed333 Spotlight with @kelley.broderick 🎧 Still Hot by Nic D & Connor Price #westcoastswing #improv #spotlightdance #femalelead #practicemakesprogress by @wahlaine.dancing
