With summer weather officially over it’s the season for hot sandwiches! We’ve got more specials on the horizon so don’t forget to watch our stories 👀 Open 12 ‘til Sold Out! See ya for lunch. 🥪 by @walterfrenchpdx
Chopped Cheese from @walterfrenchpdx yesterday's special. Baby's first chopped cheese! OK maybe not first, but I can count on one hand the times I've ever eaten a chopped cheese. It's not really a thing out here? One of those east coast things that we don't really have out here, like bodegas, nightclubs, fashion, culture, Yuengling and some mythical place called Wawa. What do I know though? I'm just a small town Oregon boy who grew up in the woods swathed in flannel with no running water or electricity. What I do know is to trust the sandwich geniuses at Walter French's. by @walterfrenchpdx
Fall is back • FAT MAC IS BACK! 🔥🔥🔥 That’s right… we brought our chopped cheese back. Walkups only. We’re open 12 ‘til SOLD OUT. See ya for lunch! #eater #eaterpdx #portland #portlandfood #travelportland by @walterfrenchpdx
Weekend special from @walterfrenchpdx Turkey, bacon, cheddar, avocado, tomato, some other things... (TBCAT? sounds like a feline disease). Just a friendly reminder that Walter French's has specials sometimes. As if it wasn't hard enough to pick a sandwich from them already. They aren't online so you have to go in person, or call in like I do. BTW I love food carts that have phone lines! That way my wait time can be my drive time. I am nothing if not an efficient human being. New blog post up about my favorite August eats. by @walterfrenchpdx
Well this week is starting out with a bang! On Sunday night there was a shooting across the street from our food cart and a woman was injured. Our cart was hit in the process by a stray bullet which is very SCARY. We are beyond grateful that we weren’t inside working at the time because that bullet could have hit one of us. We are now having to deal with damaged equipment, cleanup & insurance companies. Oh by the way… have you heard there is also a massive heat wave that’s affecting us all?! This all sucks but digging a bullet out of our refrigerator was really quite the experience. And don’t worry our hours might be weird this week but not even this will stop us from making sandwiches because as we all know sandwiches are LIFE. Oh yeah GO BIRDS 🦅 by @walterfrenchpdx
Mama Fratelli from @walterfrenchpdx I only have eyes for Mama Fratelli. Prettiest girl at the dance. And most scrumptious too! by @walterfrenchpdx
The South Street is back! A hot melted sammy is just the cure for this rainy day. We’re open 12 until sold out! See ya for lunch! #eater #eaterpdx #portland #portlandfood #portlandfoodies by @walterfrenchpdx
BLT from @walterfrenchpdx Apparently I didn't notice the tiny piece of wax paper stuck to the sandwich before I took the photo. Do not let that distract you from how delicious this sandwich looks (and tastes). Don't just get any BLT. Get a BLT that you need to unhinge your jaw for. Get a BLT that is thicker than Megan Thee Stallion. (Megan I would unhinge my jaw for you, respectfully, if you wanted me too. Call me! 😘) by @walterfrenchpdx
Big Dom from @walterfrenchpdx After failing to secure a RickRib from @lardopdx yesterday (they had sold out 20 minutes before I called) I had to console myself with a different delicious sandwich. Eat your feelings people. It's like that song we learned as kids "Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver, and the other gold." Big Dom is the silver, an old friend. Loyal, trustworthy. The RickRib is the popular kid at school who won't give me the time of day. Big Dom is my bestie but I desperately want to be accepted by the cool clique at school led by the RickRib. Big Dom doesn't feel our friendship is threatened and supports my efforts in infiltrate the cool clique. We've all seen this movie before. John Hughes bought a mansion off these movies. But he also made Dennis the Menace. So keep that in mind. Anywho, eat a sandwich or whatever. I don't care, it's your life, live it. by @walterfrenchpdx
