We are delighted to present Fabian Hiller in this year’s NEW POSITIONS section at ART COLOGNE.

-

Fabian Hiller (b. 1997 in Mainz, Germany) has been studying under Thomas Scheibitz at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf since 2022. In his painting, he combines analogue and digital processes to create hybrid pictorial spaces. His works take as their starting point visual phenomena generated by screens, simulations, and technical devices, which appear as abstracted images from the outset. Much like photography transforms reality, the digital realm produces its own visual logic, which Hiller translates back into painting.

The resulting pictorial spaces are characterized by forms that fold, overlap, or dissolve, oscillating between depth and flatness. These forms often resemble holographic apparitions within an artificial, simulated space. It is precisely within this tension that the paradox of his work unfolds: the translation of digital image worlds back into the physical reality of paint, materiality, and canvas.

Our Berlin gallery is currently presenting a selection of works by Raimund Girke as part of the exhibition “Raimund Girke, white remains”, on view through the end of October 2026.

The exhibition brings together paintings from different phases of Girke’s career, highlighting his sustained engagement with the color white. Through layered surfaces, rhythmic brushwork, and subtle tonal variations of white, grey, and blue, he developed a form of painting marked by concentration, precision, and quiet intensity.

GEROLD MILLER
3 Räume
September 18 – October 31, 2026
on view at @walterstormsgalerie Munich

Gerold Miller (*1961) is a conceptual sculptor and object artist based in Berlin. He exhibits internationally and has been represented by Walter Storms Galerie for almost ten years.

The structures of his minimalist wall works and freestanding sculptures are made from stainless steel or aluminium, their surfaces meticulously built up through multiple layers of paint. Miller’s visual language draws on the traditions of Suprematism, Color Field painting and Hard-Edge painting, transforming their formal principles into new compositions defined by geometric precision and a distinctive use of colour. Moving between painting, relief and sculpture, his works inhabit the field of tension that has shaped his practice for decades, exploring the interplay of form, surface, light and space.

Over the course of his 40-year international career, Miller’s work has been presented in around 100 solo exhibitions and extensively documented in 25 exhibition catalogues, with texts by authors including Nico Anklam, Frank Boehm, Friederike Nymphius and Tobias Hoffmann.

For his exhibition at Walter Storms Galerie, Miller presents three recent bodies of work across the gallery’s three exhibition spaces. Among them is an entirely new group of mirror-polished stainless-steel reliefs. All works in the exhibition were conceived and created specifically for the spaces in Munich.

white remains
September 10 – October 31, 2026
on view at @walterstormsgalerie Berlin

Through layered surfaces, rhythmic brushwork, and subtle tonal variations of white, grey, and blue, he developed a form of painting marked by concentration, precision, and quiet intensity.

His “Fundamental Painting” revolved around questions of light, materiality, perception, density, and reduction. Over decades, Girke created a distinctive painterly language whose clarity and stillness continue to resonate with remarkable contemporaneity.

Since the early 1980s, Walter Storms and Raimund Girke shared a close professional relationship and long-standing friendship. Over decades, the gallery realized numerous exhibitions with the artist and continuously supported his work.
