I used to say to myself during prayer time, that whenever I get the opportunity to open my own wine and whiskey bar, what do I want to look like?

Not too long ago, I found the paper I drew 5-6 years ago when I was still in my “dreaming” phase of @marietta.proper

Write it, draw it, paint it, etch it, or sketch it, don’t matter! Just get your ideas on paper.

Talk to God, make it clear what you want, and trust His process

I promise you He’s listening 🥹🙏🏽🙌🏽

Daddy, I told you when you got diagnosed that you’d never be alone. That I would walk with and beside you, hand in hand, through this healing journey for as far as you’d let me. On Thursday September 25th 2025 my best friend took his last breath holding my hand and at 9:42pm my angel got his wings

You, I, we, WE all fought so so hard and I am grateful for every additional second all the treatments and doctors and hospitals gave us with you but I’d be lying if I didn’t say it wasn’t enough

The newly empty cavity where your chunk of my heart belongs, is excruciating. How am I supposed to go on with so much of my heart missing?

How dare the birds have the nerve to sing and the sun to shine and you’re not here. The earth just seems to spin a lil bit slower since you left

To say I miss you sounds ridiculous but I haven’t the vocabulary to accurately communicate the severity of ache in the corners of my heart

I thought I had experienced, to some degree most of the many types of heartbreaks this life has to offer but your absence has unlocked a new dimension of sadness I never knew existed

Correcting myself to have to speak of you as a memory instead of reality is something I’m not sure I’ll ever get used to.

Your absence being felt takes on a whole new meaning to me now. Maybe this is a common phenomenon you experience when you lose a parent that you’re close to but I can physically feel your spirit no longer being on this earth

Papa Grigio, papi, dadd-o, my bestie, my og twin, my role model, my hero, my Daddy

Thank you for letting me walk you all the way home. It has been my honor to be yours 💔🕊️ rest peacefully

Said a final farewell to the beautiful @nickyv28_ today. 42 years young but three lifetimes worth of love lived from such a vibrant soul.
Having to say goodbye to you and @moderndaycharlotte after valiant fights both against colon cancer in one lifetime somehow just feels immensely cruel. I wanted more for you both, there was so much more life to live 😞
My heart goes out to your babies. If they need anything we got them. When you see Arie please let her know that she is deeply missed 💙. I’m so glad you’re not suffering any more friend but damn. Rest well beautiful 🫶🏽love you girl by @wandering_wino_

Hey y’all, here’s a scrumptious and super easy marinated lamb chop recipe for ya. Cooking is my happy place 🫶🏽and I fill up on feel goods by cooking for my tribe

One rack of lamb
Equal parts one to 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard, basil, oregano
1 teaspoon each hot sauce, salt and pepper, red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon honey
Handful of parsley
1/4 to 1/2 cup avocado oil
8 to 12 cloves of garlic, yes that much garlic

Blend them all up, marinate the lamb for at least 3-6 hours but overnight is best. take them out of the fridge 30 to 45 minutes before you cook them.
My girl finally came over and I got excited and forgot to film the cooking part 🤦🏽‍♀️ but melt a pat of butter (I use plant based) in a very hot stainless steel pan with couple tablespoons of avocado oil, sear on both sides, I cut my lamb into double chops so 3-4 minutes on each side, and an additional minute on each of the ends, rested for 10 minutes got this perfect medium rare 🤌🏽. Enjoy 🥂

Honored and humbled to be named a semifinalist for “Best New Bar” by the James Beard Foundation. This recognition means the world and reflects not only the year we have been open but the years prior of meticulous planning, creativity, and intentionality. We could have been acknowledged for anything but to be recognized for a beverage program that I put so much of myself into really is the icing on the cake 🙏🏽

From spending almost 9 months painstakingly curating a beverage menu with neurotic Virgo meticulousness lol that highlights and prioritizes Black- and women-owned brands, collaborating with incredible talents like @wonderful_whisky_woman on the cocktails, and the tutelage and guidance from my mentor and fellow semifinalist, @noirsommelier of Tonya Pitts Consulting, on the wine program, every detail was crafted with purpose

This journey began almost a decade ago as an idea on paper and a prayer request to the most high, and seeing it come to life and bringing ppl so much joy has been deeply fulfilling.

To my amazing @marietta.proper team, my baby family, thank you for helping bring this vision to life with your hard work, passion, and belief in what we could create together. A special thank you to my best friend and right hand @the_only_mel, I could not have made it this far on so many fronts without you girl. To the best daughter in the world who has shown extreme patience, maturity, and graciousness in allowing me the space and time to chase my dreams 💙 thank you mini. And to the person who believed in us and submitted our name – your quiet confidence in my dream didn’t go unnoticed 🫶🏽

This nomination stands as a testament to the dedication and excellence we poured into this project every step of the way. Thank you to the @beardfoundation for this incredible nod, and here’s to what’s still to come. 🥂

A quick message from the man himself on #GivingTuesday we can’t thank all of you enough personally for your generosity 🫶🏽
My personal thank you message will be coming later when the dust settles a little bit. My dad and I got to spend some unexpected quality time together while in Mexico getting his prostate cancer treatment @immunitytherapycenter and there was no where I would’ve rather been than by his side.
We left ITC and now he’s on a very regimented home treatment program and is in a great place. The pic was taken on October 20th…2024! A few weeks ago and he’s not even the same person 🙌🏽 It’s barely December, can you believe that? Look at him now. Look at God working yall 😭
I havent had time to process our time together but just know that my heart is so full and so grateful for you all 💙.
He’s still got a journey to fully healed so the fundraising continues. He has 2 more months of home treatment that we will pay for out-of-pocket and then he will return to the facility for another week. Each month of treatment is around $3-4K and the facility visit is upwards of $6k. Plus getting him back to Mexico.
If you have not donated or you feel it on your heart to do so please do and share his fundraiser! As you can see, every penny and every prayer is absolutely working and we are watching a miracle in real time 🥹. Saying goodbye was hard but I’m confident it’s just a see you soon, love you daddy 💙 Happy holidays everyone and please hug your love ones tight love y’all!
Donation link is in my bio!
