New Mexico has been on our travel list for some time. The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta @balloonfiesta , which takes place every October, has been the main draw. With more than 500 hot-air balloons, it is the largest ballooning event in the world! But there is so much more to New Mexico. New Mexico is full of Indigenous arts and crafts and plenty of Mexican, and even some Spanish, charm! We loved the adobe-style structures, cuisine, arts, and the hospitality of the people. If you've never experienced the American Southwest, we definitely recommend you give the "Land of Enchantment" a try! ๐Ÿ‘‡ Swipe down for trip album! ๐Ÿ‘‡ Follow me on Instagram @wanderlustmike YouTube channel - WanderLust Mike Travel blog at WanderLustMike.com (link in bio) . . . . . . . . . . . #newmexico #albuquerque #santafe #balloonfestival #wanderlustmike ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ‘ฌ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ by @wanderlustmike
The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta @balloonfiesta also has static, or grounded, displays of hot-air balloons. Strong winds (approx. 7 mph or above) or rain will cancel balloon events, from mass ascensions to balloon glows. Our Sunday morning session only had a static display of approximately 80 hot-air balloons. It was still nice to walk amongst them ๐Ÿคฉ๐ŸŽˆ๐ŸŽˆ๐ŸŽˆ โ–ถ๏ธ Swipe for more photos! โ–ถ๏ธ Follow me on Instagram @wanderlustmike YouTube channel - WanderLust Mike Travel blog at WanderLustMike.com (link in bio) . . . . . . . . . . . #newmexico #albuquerque #balloonfiesta #balloonfestival #wanderlustmike ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ‘ฌ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ by @wanderlustmike

The main attraction in October is the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta! @balloonfiesta We chose to ride in a hot-air balloon during our first morning session of the festival! Rainbow Ryders @rainbowryders is the official hot-air balloon ride concessionaire for the event. Our balloon ride check-in began at 4:45 am, and continued up until we departed to load into our balloon, around 6:15 am. The check in location was the Rainbow Ryders tent, just inside Admission Gate 9. We paid a grand total of $1287.50 for two people. Expensive? Definitely! But it's a once in a lifetime kind of experience. Our hot-air balloon ride was wonderful! We rose to an altitude of 9100 feet, and covered a total distance of over 10 miles. We were able to witness the beautiful sunrise over the Sandia Mountains surrounded by hot-air balloons, and glide over Rio Grande River as well ๐Ÿคฉ๐ŸŽˆ๐Ÿ‘ฝ๐ŸŽˆ๐Ÿฆฅ๐ŸŽˆ๐Ÿ„ โ–ถ๏ธ Swipe for more photos! โ–ถ๏ธ Follow me on Instagram @wanderlustmike YouTube channel - WanderLust Mike Travel blog at WanderLustMike.com (link in bio) . . . . . . . . . . . #newmexico #albuquerque #balloonfiesta #balloonfestival #wanderlustmike ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ‘ฌ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ by @wanderlustmike
There's more to Albuquerque, New Mexico, than just a hot-air balloon festival! There's the ABQ BioPark including the Botanic Garden, Old Town, the Rail Yards Market, and even Tablao Flamenco! Santa Fe, New Mexico, is definitely the cultural heart of the state! Norway is a wonderful country to explore! I would call it the land of a thousand waterfalls. We enjoyed a scenic cruise of Trollfjord near Svolvaer, Norway, where we spotted white-tailed eagles! We flew from Alesund to the Lofoten Islands of Norway! ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ด We spent the night at a bed and breakfast along the beautiful shoreline in Sandtorg. Then we drove from Sandtorg to Svolvaer in the gorgeous Lofoten Islands! While in Svolvaer we visited Magic Ice, an ice sculpture bar. It was really cool! We also explored the coastal fjord town of Alesund, Norway! ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ด Staying at the historic Hotel Brosundet, we perused the old town, enjoyed dinner with a view at XL Diner, and climbed over 400 steps to the stunning Aksla Viewpoint ๐Ÿคฉ โ–ถ๏ธ Swipe for more photos โ–ถ๏ธ Follow me on Instagram @wanderlustmike YouTube channel - WanderLust Mike Travel blog at WanderLustMike.com (link in bio) . . . . . . . . . . . #Norway #alesund #historic #views #wanderlustmike ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ‘ฌ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‘จโ€โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ’‹โ€๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ by @wanderlustmike
We rented an EV and took an 8 hour drive from Bergen, Norway, to Geiranger. The drive was such a feast for the eyes! I tried to describe it as Lake Como meets Yosemite National Park, but those locations pale in comparison. Around every turn, out of every tunnel, the western fjords spectacle was never-ending! Once in Geiranger it was all about waterfalls, forest hikes, and scenic vistas ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ด โ–ถ๏ธ Swipe for more photos โ–ถ๏ธ Follow me on Instagram @wanderlustmike YouTube channel - WanderLust Mike Travel blog at WanderLustMike.com (link in bio) . . . . . . . . . . . #Norway #Geiranger #fjords #waterfalls #wanderlustmike ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ‘ฌ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‘จโ€โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ’‹โ€๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ by @wanderlustmike
