Whilst Ben Caroll and Jess Wilson engage in a bidding war, One Nation promotes financial transparency and to spend sensibly.

600,000 for a kitchen at a temple? We can tell you that the only thing getting cooked in that kitchen, are the books!

Under a One Nation Government, we will spend money responsibly, because it’s not the government’s, it’s yours.

Only One Nation has the tenacity to blow the books wide open, cut the waste and redirect money into essential community services.

Victoria, let’s cool the jets.
We are all desperate for change, and it’s great to see so many Victorians active in the political sphere, but we need to take a step back.
No matter what side of the political spectrum you’re on there is no room for vandalism and violence in politics.

Today, we launched our Open Cabinet Policy

One Nation will introduce Open Cabinet legislation requiring the release of Cabinet documents from previous Labor and Liberal governments as part of an effort to restore public trust.

Party leader Warren Pickering said the most damaging decisions of the Andrews and Allan Labor governments had been made in the dark.

“One Nation is going to turn on the lights,” Mr Pickering said. “This secrecy was no accident. It was calculated and deliberate, creating an environment in which Labor’s corruption and incompetence thrived.

“Victorians are still living with the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns and quarantine failures, the ballooning cost of the Big Build, the explosion of state debt and a long string of integrity scandals.

“Our state became a laughing stock when Labor spent $589 million of taxpayers’ money cancelling the Commonwealth Games, a figure the Auditor-General called ‘overstated and
not transparent’. When the Upper House asked for the documents, Labor refused to hand them over. Meanwhile, IBAC and the Ombudsman found Labor MPs using taxpayer-funded
staff to stack party branches.

“Labor locked Victorians in their homes for 262 days, longer than any city on earth. They put Melbourne under curfew and told us it was health advice. We now know it wasn’t. Their own
public health commander wrote that the curfew ‘has not arisen from public health advice’ and was ‘a decision taken by Cabinet’. Getting that one email out of them took four and a half years and a fight in the Court of Appeal.

“Cabinet documents from that era remain locked away for decades – Victorians cannot see the advice or options presented to Cabinet, or the deliberations which led to these
horrendous outcomes. When decisions never see daylight there is no real accountability, no pressure to get it right, and every incentive to hide cost blow-outs, protect mates and cover mistakes. That’s exactly what happened under Labor.

30,000 VICTORIANS HOMELESS.

Homelessness in Victoria is escalating, with the Mornington Peninsula seeing a growing crisis and the recent deaths of some of our most vulnerable serving as a tragic reminder of the urgent need for action.

One Nation Victoria Leader Warren Pickering and Mornington candidate Ashley Beards have announced a plan to tackle homelessness and deliver safe, secure accommodation for those who need it most, along with a path for long-term stability.

Our policy commits to:
• Redirecting every dollar of the short-stay accommodation levy into housing and homelessness services.

• Delivering crisis and temporary accommodation, including domestic violence shelters, using identified Crown and council land.

• Working with NGOs and community organisations to provide ongoing support and wraparound services.

• Trialling land tax exemptions for landlords to encourage more properties to enter the long-term rental market.

• Establishing a Housing to Work pathway to help vulnerable Victorians rebuild their lives, return to employment and regain independence.

We will also demand transparency and accountability over how housing and homelessness funding is spent.

Every Victorian deserves a safe place to sleep, the dignity of a home and the opportunity to rebuild their life. It’s time for action, not more broken promises. by @warrenpickering.on

$One Nation Victoria leader Warren Pickering has said homelessness in Victoria is a national disgrace, with a broken rental market forcing people onto the streets while promises of more social and crisis housing in the state had delivered only a fraction of what was needed. “We’re left with little choice but to put more resources into helping Victorians facing homelessness,” Mr Pickering said. “Around 35% of renters are in rental stress, more than 30,000 people are homeless in our state, and more than a thousand sleep rough on a given night. “We are seeing rough sleepers everywhere, from country towns to the Melbourne CBD, because there’s nowhere else for them to go. That changes under a One Nation government.” Mr Pickering said One Nation would create sufficient crisis, transitional and temporary places so no-one is forced to sleep rough. Dedicated beds will be provided in every region, including for women and children escaping family violence. The By-Name List will be resourced statewide and funded to connect every person to a genuine offer of housing and support. He said One Nation would run a statewide trial providing land tax exemptions for willing landlords who lease dwellings – including short-stay properties – to the state or community housing providers for 12 month tenancies. “This creates immediate housing stock for only about a third the cost of motel accommodation that’s currently being used,” he said. “We’ll also trial incentives such as wage subsidies or payroll tax offsets for employers hiring someone on the By-Name List, and we’ll create dedicated entry-level state government jobs for people exiting homelessness. “Squatting or camping in the Melbourne CBD and other high-visibility public areas will not be an option. We aim to provide enough beds so it doesn’t need to be. We will enforce clear rules and move-on powers consistently – but only after outreach workers have offered a place. The days of seeing tents lining the streets of our cities, towns and foreshores will be over because everyone will have somewhere safe to sleep.” by @warrenpickering.on$

Great to visit the Pakenham SES at the emergency services precinct.

Always a pleasure to be able to thank the phenomenal volunteers working day and night to keep our community safe. by @warrenpickering.on

I recently had an incredibly emotional experience whilst meeting Paul from Zerosuicide community awareness program at our Pakenham warehouse.

Paul is a deeply compassionate advocate for male suicide. On his travels he took the time to show me the visible representation of male suicide on his annual awareness tour across the country.

The sight of a pile of shoes that represent our fathers, brothers and sons whom have taken their own lives is truly heart breaking to witness.

Men and boys are disproportionately represented in suicides at a ratio of 3:1. This translates to an average of 690 each year, every year in Victoria alone.

2500 nationally.

Instead of demonising men and boys within our society, we must work harder to understand the underlying causes that contribute to their suffering and feelings of isolation. We need to identify and start to record the statistical data surrounding what was going on in these men and boys lives before they committed suicide. Even one is too many.

We must do better. by @warrenpickering.on
