On Saturday morning, the ice dogs played soccer on ice which continued our theme of connecting hockey to other sports like last week when we played baseball! Go ice dogs! #washingtonicedogs #hockeyisforeveryone by @washingtonicedogs

Yesterday we had our second practice of the 26-27 season. Our A/B players learned about the offside rule. C level group worked on stopping and stick handling while playing red light green light and even played baseball on ice! Our one on one group continued to work on their skating skills. #washingtonicedogs #hockeyisforeveryone #specialhockey #washingtonicedogs #hockeyisforeveryone #specialhockey by @washingtonicedogs

Guess who’s back?!

The Ice Dogs kicked off our 2026-2027 season today with a great first practice. We welcomed quite a few new players, coaches and mentors. It was really awesome to see some of our previous players return to give back to the program by helping out as mentors! It’s shaping up to be an amazing hockey season for us!! ❤️🏒

This weekend we were guests of the Navy Youth Hockey Association 12U/14U teams who invited the Ice Dogs to their practice. We truly appreciate you having us and running a great practice. The Navy Youth Hockey players did an amazing job welcoming our players, working together with them on the ice, giving encouragement and joining in with lots of celly’s. #washingtonicedogs #hockeyisforeveryone #navyyouthhockey by @washingtonicedogs

The Ice Dogs would like to congratulate Mya Arrendell from Bullis School on being named Gatorade Maryland Girls Track & Field Player of the Year! As part of the award, Mya got to choose an organization to receive a $1,000 grant through Gatorade - and she chose Washington Ice Dogs.

We are so honored and so thankful. Mya is a close family friend of one of our players and they are very proud. Thank you for supporting the Ice Dogs, Mya! It means a lot to our athletes.

Washington Ice Dogs found the best way to beat the summer heat — time on the ice! Our players stayed cool at the rink and had a lot of fun with their teammates at practice today.

Thank You, Coach Chris!
We’ll miss having you on our bench. Your patience, knowledge, and instruction on ice helped our Washington Ice Dogs grow tremendously as hockey players and as people. We will all cherish the fun memories of many great moments we spent together on and off the ice.
Cheers and well wishes as you head to your new Coast Guard post on Staten Island. We’re so glad you’ll be living in NJ, closer to family and the place you grew up.
Thank you for your service to our team and to our country. You’ll always be part of the Ice Dogs family! ⚓ 🥅

This past Sunday one of our players and their mom got to spend a very special day attending the Washington Capitals game and cheering on Alex Ovechkin, who has donated an astounding 72 tickets for our Ice Dogs players this season. Thank you Alex for your support and for all the memories you helped create for our players and their families!!

While in Lake Placid, Ovie also ran in to his friends from Cleveland Rockin' Wildcats and NOVA Cool Cats Special hockey. A photo shoot, including some shots in front of a green screen led to quite the competition of many winter Olympic events!! by @washingtonicedogs

Our team mascot, Ovie the Bulldog was also with us in Lake Placid last weekend. He was seen all around Olympic Center showing his team spirit and cheering on the Ice Dogs!!

Last weekend in Lake Placid, while our players did their best on the ice, their fans were excited to be there cheering them on! The team effort comes from everyone involved in supporting our players and program.

Thank you to the families of the players, all the staff and coaches for their support. And a huge thank you to Melissa Schaab, as well as our board and committee members for all the work you do to make these events happen. It was a really great weekend that we were able to spend together! #washingtonicedogs by @washingtonicedogs
