Presence is a strategy.

In a world moving faster than ever, presence is losing traction.

Presence is influence without speaking.
Authority without aggression.
Style without shouting.

In business, presence is positioning.
It’s how you build trust before the first meeting.
It’s how you create leverage before opportunities doors open.

You’re either building presence — or you’re making it harder for yourself.

Build or destroy?

When you build, it’s in the details.
In the discipline.
In how you show up when no one’s watching.

And someone is always watching.

Presence is a strategy if you’re serious about building something that lasts.

Presence matters — and so do you. by @watkinsdavidm

Embrace not knowing… by @watkinsdavidm

Letting it rip. Some beautiful pieces headed out. Few technical items — overshirt, gilet and field jacket. Camel cashmere utility jacket. Solid navy raglan sleeve overcoat. Insane @loropiana Dream tweed. White flannel dinner jacket (what?!) a washed teal corduroy DB (insane) and a lovely wool western shirt in a forest green. DM’s open if you’d like to commission something for yourself. Holidays fast approaching. ❤️✌️ by @watkinsdavidm

Remember, you have style, whether you think you do or not.

It’s not just about clothes. It’s the way you carry yourself. How you treat others. How you sell real estate. Or how you finesse a spreadsheet.

Style is the ultimate naturalness.

Stay stylish. by @watkinsdavidm

Taste requires attention. And intention. It takes work to develop judgement. And it’s ok if you don’t wish to put in the work. Just outsource it to those that have. 🤝 by @watkinsdavidm

It’s easy to confuse new with better. But the older I get, the more I think the better question is a simpler one: Is it good enough to keep? The full essay is on Substack. Link in bio. by @watkinsdavidm

I turn 52 this week.

This is quite the exhaustive list of things I believe about work, people, taste, money, and how I want to spend my time.

Some were expensive to learn. Others I understand perfectly well and still struggle to practice.

I've been emailing my son every day since he was little. I imagine he'll get this full list over time, in bits, but I'm glad I wrote it and have it all in one place.

The list is somewhat of a framework, a way of being that I strive for. I selfishly wrote it for me, but I want you to have it. Even if you only pull one nugget and it makes an impact, to me, it was worth it.

The first one is the foundation that runs through the rest.

Focus on the product, how it’s made, the quality behind it, and not so much on where it’s made. In my experience there are amazing craftspeople all over the world and my job is to sort through the junk and bring you the best quality for a fair price. Discounting an entire country is kind of a weird form of racism. Let’s not do that. 🤟🏻 hit me with any questions. by @watkinsdavidm
